This free Unreal 5 demo dropped on the Playstation and XBox stores yesterday, and I have to say it is a pretty outstanding demo. Whilst it is tied in with the Matrix Awakens and there is a bit of Matrix-y related stuff in there, the core of it is a walking/driving sim in an open world environment to demonstrate what Unreal engine 5 is capable of on next gen consoles, and it is pretty damn good for a free demo.

Here is a video I took of wandering around with drone cam, then walking, and driving (obviously it looks better natively in HDR). I am very impressed with this considering it is simply a marketing effort, rather than an actual game, and recommend people check it out regardless of whether they are interested in the Matrix.

Downloaded this at the start of the week on the series S and it’s pretty bloomin special, great advert for the film and a wonderful display of the unreal engines latest offerings.

Same as the OP recommend anyone with a S/X/5 to download this free demo.

After getting the shooting nonsense out of the way, I have just spent a couple of lovely hours just walking, flying and almost driving around the city. It’s amazing. I’m going to lose myself around that landscape many more times I reckon.

It really is quite a spectacular thing. In 4K on PS5, there are parts of it which just look like a film, with the buildings reflecting off each other and the way the light plays with the patches of wet and dry on the roads. It's mind-blowing that you can move around inside it and adjust the lighting as you fancy. The sprawling city in the Spiderman games is mighty impressive, but this is next level detail.

There will be gen 8 users screwing, confused why this won’t run like that on an original Xbox saying it’s not acceptable.

Did I see rotational motion blur on the wheels or was I just imagining it?
