I see no verbal or pop up reference to setting up the trailing unit. After setting up the lead unit, it takes Notch 3 to get the units moving and when rolling around 5 mph, there is an audible friction squeal which leads me to wonder if the brakes on the trailing unit have released. Would appreciate feedback on your experience with this MU set up.

guide_gp38-2-spg_2.jpg Set up the lead unit like this and leave the trailing one as it is.
People usually miss/don't know about the MU-A2 valve, so the independent brake doesn't release and you go screeching across the yard.

You are right on about the screeching! So do I set the MU valve to "DEAD"?

The driving cab should be set to "Lead," all others to "Trail (26)". "Dead" (which in practice is the same position as Lead) is only for shutdown engines being dragged; what it means is "This brake control station is not taking orders from elsewhere." Trail is what you want in the non-driving cabs; it enables remote control of the independent loco brake.
