Epic Vs Steam

Having played TSW2 on Xbox since its launch when it was given away on Epic I thought I'd try it
It runs ok but the fps tops out at 28-30.
Since reinstalling Win10 I haven't installed Epic so today I bought it on Steam for £4.99
when I tried it on Steam the fps topped out at 40-42
it seems strange that the same game can be so different between two versions
All my hardware is the same as before

 

I don't have Epic, but I wonder if your settings are different for each platform.

 

Were you using the same route to compare? There's varying performance between different routes

 

I remember when TSW2 first released on Epic I picked it up because it was free, and noticed a marked improvement on the frame rate (50-60 vs 25-30 on Bakerloo), but I didn't get such an improvement when the Steam edition updated, and I only get comparable performance with the DX12 setting (I'll put up with the flickering shadows and graffiti).

I wonder if part of that is due to the absence of Denuvo in the Epic version..

 

Whatever caused the inprovement, I'm happy about it.

 

I cannot believe you applied exactly the same settings, used the same camera view measured at the same spot. There are so many factors. It is the same software essentially.

 

Always think of Google’s “don’t be evil” when I think of Epic…
