    Hi Guys,
I have recently upgraded from good old TS 2012< to TSW 2, The graphics are 100x better but the controls are 100x more clunky...
I can understand it seems like a cool idea to control your train using the cab controls but without specialised peripherals it does not work so well.
The HUD and controls in TS work far better, for me anyway.
Are there any plans for an update to the HUD and controls in the game? and if not is there a mod out there that brings the far better control system into the game??

Lastly is this system the reason AWS dose not seem to be a thing?? or am I just missing an option in the settings??
    Don't walk on the tracks,
    Howch

Want clunky and non mnemonic controls, try Run 8! The only issue I sometimes have with TSW controls is that sometimes they are over sensitive to keyboard input, other times you are mashing away to get a response. Or maybe that’s just my clunky fingers!

Re AWS it is off by default. Ctrl - Enter will enable it, on those routes where it’s fitted.

I think the HUD is much better in TSW than it was in TS. Thr HUD in TS showed too much useless info, took up too much space and was ugly. I love how in TSW you csn toggle different parts on and off to see only what you want to see.

As for the controls, what id your problrm wiht them? Most key bindings are the same as TS.

Don't know what route you meant, but some routes don't have AWS equipped.

Bakerloo Line and Island Line (Isle of Wight) don't have AWS in real life. North Trans Pennine is set in a specific time period when AWS was not equipped. Also in South Eastern High Speed you will have to use TVM and KVB instead of AWS in the high speed section.

Other routes should have active AWS.

AWS and other safety systems are by default off, there'll be a switch or lever in the cab (typically the back wall).

However, if you think TSW is clunky to use, please go and use the physical controls in the cab in TS1. Having said that, there are some times when you need to move the mouse in a not very intuitive direction to move a control. As mentioned above, most keybinds are by default the same as TS1, and can be rebound.

Are you not using the keyboard or controller controls?

(Also, all safety systems are optional and off by default)

Some of us have wanted an upgrade to the hud for quite a while.
While drivers have major controls in one convenient area, we have information displayed in three separate corners of the screen.
The whole point of a hud is to avoid the driver taking his eyes from whats in front of him.
Much eye rolling in the cab…

Most of that would be solved by allowing us to move the various bits of the HUD as we see fit.

I'd love to be able to toggle all elements of the main on and off HUD individually. For me personally I'd prefer just to have the gradient showing (mimicking a driver's route knowledge) and have the rest off. For now, I prefer to drive bottom-HUDless and just toggle Ctrl+5 for a couple of seconds when I need to view it.

I'm the same, but to have all the information in the bottom corner would be marvellous.

Well turn off the HUD then. I mean the HUD is there to show you information that you otherwise should get by looking in front of you, like your current speed and other info if your train from gauges in the cab, or next signals and speed limits. Obviously you can't look at the HUD and in front of you at the same time. You have to decide if you want to drive by the HUD or by actually looking on front of you.

My best advice is to only use the HUD for information you can't get from looking. Have the next stop/objective distance or marker up, and maybe a next speed limit marker, but everything else is pointless and distracting. Things like your current speed, brake pressures, traction effort you can get from in-cab displays. Signals are clearly there and visible alongside the tracks, and so are speed limit signs most of the time (but there are routes that don't have them, which is why I advise the next speed limit distance display). From the next objective distance display you know where you need to stop, and most passenger stations will feature stopping point signs for you.

Having less HUD elements on your screen will give you a much better and immersive experience. Grouping all information in one corner however would just make a really bad HUD design. There is a reason all modern games have different aspects of the HUD in different corners. Like your status in one corner, map in another corner, leader board/scores in another corner.
