According to the Arosaline Users' Manual*, the Vacuum Pump "sets the control mode of the vacuum pump which discharges air from the main reservoir".
This leads me to 2 questions: is this control functional and "what's that mean?".

*Yes, Virginia, there is a users' manual for this DLC!

Could it mean brake timing, for passenger and freight?

Ok, the ge 4/4 ii is a loco between 30 and 40 years old. They had a major overhaul around 2008 (revisision r3 + modernisation kit).

This includes the use of the electric brake to get power back into the powernet during braking (basicly what happens when accelerating just the other way around while using gravity downwards.
Second they got the an upgrade of the zsi system and the parking mode, which allows a "standby" while under power.

Third major change is the upgrade to a dual brake system ( vacuum and air).

You can see the vacuum hose (both inner hoses), main reservoir hose(yellow) and the air brake hose.(red)

When coupling to the coaches the vacuum and reservoir hose is connected. Air brake hose isnt attached here. The others are electric to the coaches.

If a second loco is used, the jumper cable is connected here.

So now whats with rivets ge 4/4:

For sure rivet modeled a version, which had is overhaul already.

    - So for changing ends you also let down the pantho and let it up on the other cab.
    - since the power can feed back into the net downhill the electric brake is used, and to stop in stations the vacuum brakes are used.
    - multi unit working is possiblw as long you tow, but there is no jumper cable and the second loco isnt producing traction in control of the first loco (no layer for it anyway)

Now the wheel is called a "fahrstufenschalter", means the more you apply it accelerates to the next step. Rivets ts2022 version could change between this and stepless acceleration on this vacuum brake lever, which is weird in my opinion.

The function of this lever is simple at 0 the vacuum pump isnt working and the brakes on your train isnt gonna release. 1, 2, 3 is depending on your train lenght or to compensate terrain heights which influences braking because the change of atmospheric pressure.

In short yes rivet has implemented that. The vacuum seems to create faster on the other positions.

If the locomotive can be accelerated analog like in ts with that vac pump lever on 3, i have to check first but i doubt since i believe only the first batch were analog, second batch was already a computer equipped controll system which is the one in tsw basicly.

This is a great loco, I love it (TS and TSW). I would love to see Bernina Pass, Albula Line and/or Engadine Line in TSW. GE 4/4 II could be used there, and we could get GE 4/4 III and ABe 4/4 II and III too.
