The headlights on the 612 perform significantly better than all existing TSW2 locos. There are significant improvement to how its headlights: Throw light The distance that light is thrown How effectively headlights illuminate the environment The 612 is the new gold standard for headlights within TSW2 and would significantly improve night operations if added to existing rolling stock. TrainSim-Matt Putting this feedback on your radar, with the hope of bringing this headlight implementation to existing rolling stock. Thanks. Edit: This headlight enhancement was implemented by Maik. Hoping DTG listen to this feedback and implement it on all locos.
I think the dresden locos (particularly the cabcar and 146) had brighter headlights. Not tried it yet but apparently the 182 has very bright lights as well.
No, it is a "Maik"-Thingy I used IES light profiles on the 612 again like on the G6. They work way better than standard spot lights from UE4, but they are also a pain. So, i wouldn't expect them to appear everywhere yet.
I haven't tried a night run on DCZ yet, but judging from the last night's stream - you did a hell of a job. I can't wait to try it after work. Both the 612 and 185.6 looked impressive.
Man, I juat took a peak into the stream and those headlights really do look great! An actually realistic looking and enjoyable night driving experience. They really need to implement it on other trains as well.
But you may know that they used the high beams and not the normal headlights. The normal headlights barely lit up anything infront of the train.
Thank you Maik. Your headlight implementation is a significant improvement. I hope DTG are taking note of this positive feedback and will implement this on all locos - it massively enhances immersion, and alleviates many of the issues with night lighting. Well done
I'm aware, but at night the drivers would use the high beams in real life as well (apart from at stations), wouldn't they?
I have seen cabrides where it depends on environement. At train stations there are off where the light is enough, and they get turned off when another train is coming to not flash the driver. Outside the station those lights got turned on when there are no other light sources and the track is all black. The cabride was no tsw route / stock
Yep. Official rules dictate that high beams be turned off at stations or when another train is coming your way. Otherwise, high beams would be used during the night, signal/marker lights during the day.
Mean voices say dtg invented the bright nights because its the only way players can see something in the night . Without sarcasm, i think this should be "the new standard" for trains. Exceptions might be, if the lightes were actually bad on a train just to keep it real.
I believe in the old days before political correctness and health and safety they’d tie the village idiot to the front of the 101 with a bright torch or fire lamp
This is what all locomotives and Multiple units in game need. Try running Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr & Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen pitch dark conditions your high beams don't reach that far and bright. This one can solve that issue.
Br 185 Rp in Tharandter Rampe in Night and snow. Pretty good. Br 612 have more narrower and more realistic shine than this. But it is so much better than before
But this is not better than before. Headlights should be seen several kilometers from you Ps I got stuck in the 2.5 percent hill. Went well with clear wether but not now. 900 tons 1 Br185 Sand did´t help at all DS
The BR 612 clearly has the best headlights. Actually feels like real headlights, this is a must need for every train in the game. Or if it's really that much of a hastle to do these EIS lights, then at least play around with the original spotlight settings to improve them and bring them closer to this.
Maik: since you have programmed EIS lights, could Adam's folks simply copy your subroutine over to other trains?
If I take the BR612 in a another route Sand patch grade. Scenario editor. This route have more light in the background. So never really dark But the BR612 is so much better here than the existing loco here
I don't have Clinchfield RR since the closest route I have to it is Sand Patch Grade Cumberland to Rockwood,MD.
I think this is the biggest news dovetail has come in at least a year. They have now used a technology in Unreal to make headlights work proberly. Its Huge We have been driving in the dark now for 5 years maybe. and the way dovetail has solved it before is to make bright nights in many routes. So this is a huge thing Dovetail have done (Maik). Tharandter Rampe has Dark nights. But now we can see where we drive.
Its not topic related to the 612 headlights, but does anybody know if the "uncouple / couple" feature works for the Br612? Edit: i managed to sucessfully couple a 1 unit with a 3 unit combination. Train appears on the screen all perfect . The uncouple key i have to test first, didnt manage to get this done. Ill try to set up the other cab.
This should definitely be the new standard for all the preserved collections and newest routes. Hopefully adam's team know about this and will implemented this soon
But why? I suppose UE spotlight also should have settings like cone angle (called cutoff, I believe?), light strength and how quicky the light fades in the distance. With those setting it shouldn't be that difficult to make a headlight that actually makes you see ahead. Sure, EIS lights are much better and have a more realistic pattern, but if we can't have those, then at least let us see with the basic spotlights.
