So which country get's the first steam engine to leave the roundhouse an drive the tracks of train sim world 2?

Note:Yea i know Canada,France&Switzerland are not very likely but they are represented in TSW 2 and deserve to be listed as options either way.

    My Answer UK

I don't think USA and Germany will the First, both are already getting a new Route from DTG. If you go by the usual pattern, USA-Germany-Great Britain, the Route which will be released after Chemnitz would have to be one from Great Britain and I strongly doubt that DTG's first Steam Route is outside of the three

The US route most likely historic and carries coal. So my best guess is the N&W Railway.

It isn't going to be the first route after Chemnitz. I forecast Chemnitz around Feb 1 and the new British route around April 1. Steam, I fully believe, will roll out in August or September.

Very likely but depending on the era of the loco a wood burner not entirely unplausable either or a oil burner wouldn't be a surprise either to save having to add extra animation for coal or wood fueling.

If they are cheeky, they might practice with steam on the WSR?

They say the WSR route is set during the diesel gala. But that doesn't mean that steam shouldn't be use able there.

Definitely the uk, it was where steam railways started and the first steam engine to go 100 mph and the fastest steam engine at 126mph.

First official. Remember other engines also have this claimed, and recorded. For example the 999 Amarican 4-4-0 that is said and documented as the first thing on wheels to pass 100 mph. Wether or not it regularly achieved this is a different story.

The locos determine the diesel gala, the route has all the necessary facilities for steam (turntable, water tower). Maybe if they had a steam gala called "spirit of steam" set on the WSR?

The crazy thing is the turn table is truly pointless for double ended diesel locomotives. Now steam a different story.

Maybe it was always the case that WSR was going to be used as a the base route for steam

I think they will create a new route for the first Steam release. My guess would be the UK on Somerset & Dorset, somewhere on the Settle Carlisle, or maybe one of The Big Fours main lines to get a powerful loco on a speed run.

I would say very likely the UK given that is where DTG are mainly based.

As for what route it might be - see the wishlist in my signature!

Would be superb to have an express run on LNER London to York although that would involve a massive load of work to model along with new systems in place for steam locos so I think it will be shorter route on a preserved line.

Looking forward to it and have gift cards ready to go!

There’s movie posters for “The Black Five” at London Victoria so would take that as a massive hint!

If it was a Black 5 what do you reckon would come with it? Maybe a 4F or a Jinty? Either way I'm excited

If you look at the road map and the route code you will find that according to DTG's chart; the first route will be at the end of steam in Great Britain.

The route code officially was 1950s-1990s wasn't it? So it could be BR early or late crest depending on where they'd put it at the end of steam? Either way I can't wait for the announcement

Well, just to give a little insight into these posters that might alter how much evidence you consider them to be in this discussion...

In the very early days of Rail Simulator there were numerous community posts joking how some of the following steam locos "sound like a black 5" because bluntly they did use the black 5 sound set. Hence this poster was intended to be a fond hommage to those times pitched as a kind of album/music poster.

I thought it worked really well and for those who know, it brings a smile.

But hey, maybe i'm just throwing you off the scent ?

    Or am I?

    Interesting... :)

Reason for the poster is as above though for sure :)

    Matt.

I guess the only way for us to trust you is for you to tell us the route and locos?

    Worth a go!

Possibly - but if I named a route and locos... would you, should you, could you, believe me? At least in this thread anyway :)

You should anounce it on April Fool's. No one would believe you even if you told the truth.

Just saw that the spirit of steam was added to wiki right under the harlem line could this mean it might come before the end of 2022?

First steam route would probably be small, like Nene Valley

Well they're announcing the route next Saturday at festival of rail and the fact it was due for release before Harlem should hopefully mean its not too far away from being playable despite it releasing after now.

I do hope it’s not a preserved line we need to be able to let the beasts stretch their legs! And soak up some nostalgia at the same time

I suppose this thread is moot now. Liverpool-Crewe, 1958. LMS/BR Jubilee and F8.
