So, there is a BR182 MRCE Locomotive pulling IC sleeper cars. Is it AI only or is there a specific way to select the service? I have tried to look in both BR182 variants but I don't seem to be able to find it.
Much appreciation for help in advance.

Joe mentioned that being AI only, it is a simulation of EC services from Prague to Berlin when they still had to switch locos in Dresden, but the Czech Class 371 isn't in the game yet, so MRCE 182 was used there. Just makes Dresden busier.

While I have to say that I am quite disappointed about the area around Chemnitz (the station is clearly not set in 2012!!, the services use the wrong platforms, etc.) and some scenery bugs along the route, it is enjoyable to tilt your way around. I am also very happy to see the yards at Dresden filled with trains and the main station being quite busy, what a contrast to Hamburg or Munich. This feels SOOOO much better!

For whatever reason, I can no longer access the alt-liveries I have for the G6, 363, 403 or 406. They show up in Livery Designer, but they are not available in timetable mode; I don't even get the pink "other liveries" button.

I really like the route, the 612 is superb and its is a very challenging drive, even with green signals all the way, if you want to make up a few minutes delay it is more intense than BML for me as you have to nail the speed limits which are changing every 1-4 kilometers.
As mentioned the AI in Dresden is wonderful, and i havent experienced any major lag around the main station.

Tried a BR112 with an autozug had to drop the traction force down to 75% otherwise I wasn't going anywhere! Great fun with those gradients.

    - route looks great, atmospheric and detail rich, but here and there caroonish because of wrong under-tree texturing.
    - like many others already mentioned - timetables need heavy reworking. The lack of editors is the biggest problem here again.
    - 143 and Dosto cabcar are now sounding much better and 143 physics seem to be improved. Dosto's cabview needs adjusting (height). DTG - make cabviews adjustable by users so everybody can customise them (create new ones, edit, save, load). Rail joint and wheel flange sounds need improvements.
    - 612 looks incredible and feels great. Please increase text font size in pseudo-EBULA. It's very hard to read without zooming in.
    - overall I'm giving 9 out of 10 ; great job DTG and Maik Goltz.

The 612 seems a bit weak to me ?

Unfortunately, DTG has also decided not to give the player a manual for this DLC. Again, the tutorials are insufficient, so you have to get info in other ways. This is a very customer-unfriendly practice.
For the DLC for Train Simulator they make manuals, for TSW they don't. Are you supposed to deduce from this, what value the TSW customer has at DTG? But since nothing is changed, DTG doesn't seem to care at all.

It does seem very easy to put the 612 in power lock though. Running another Journey Mode from Chemnitz to Dresden I was a good 8 minutes late departing Chemnitz after trying to get power. Everything was switched in - brake key and switch on, reverser in and switched on, tilt engaged, power on etc. even the PZB activated but the throttle would not go beyond 1%. After some entirely random switching stuff on and off, in and out of forward direction it just suddenly all reset.

One of the problems is that the tutorial effectively shows you a cold start but you never take a train over in this actual state. It's kind of half prepared but not really clear what you need to do and more importantly the correct sequence. All you get is the Open Doors instruction which you can't do before putting the reverser in and selecting direction. Which then seems to mess up the rest of the sequence.

Haven't found any issues with the timetable yet personally, but I seem to be less happy with the 612 sounds than most. The horn especially just sounds far too heavily processed with no proper start to it and the engine sounds seem to disappear at random. Track sounds also need more work. The external model is lovely but the textures are perhaps a bit too shiny/lack weathering, and can look very odd in some lighting. Inside it is mostly good, although it has the wrong seats in the first class section, and the sliding vestibule doors all have the same labelling on. The inclusion of the full MCB cupboard is appreciated.

I see the newness has all ready worn off …. Like in the days of old - XO states “Captain, just want to report the ship’s crew morale is seeming to be improving”. Captain (community in this case) “Well then, let’s resume the flogging!”

That is inevitable, a high profile release like this is going to be played to death the first few days and eager eyed train simmers will spot and report both the good and bad.

I mean the route itself is lovely, one of the most scenic in the game, but after going back and forth a few times it is already becoming another route from A to B, just over an hour from end to end which leaves me craving for more. Warts notwithstanding, I want to drive that 612 all the way from Dresden to Nurnberg.

This has happened to me as well, but only with the 406 liveries I have imported. They are available in Livery designer, but don’t show up for selection in timetable mode.

Maik paid attention to real train behavior. Its not off to say tsgs dlcs are as close to real as possible. And with its standard way above most other tsw2 dlcs.

Make sure to put the door selector back to "neutral", if that is not the case the throttle is locked :)

I do have quite a bit of trouble completing the 'double header' scenario (with PZB and SIFA on). Any tips on that one?

I’m really enjoying the route, just have a technical question about a little detail I noticed while doing the scenario with the DoSto cab car.
For those who haven’t played it yet: It’s roughly 1.5 hours long, sort of a semi-express service with quite a few stops and red signals due to a slow freight train ahead of you.
During that scenario, I noticed that the train brakes behaved differently compared to the DoSto in DRA. In DRA, the brakes take a long time to “go away” again after being applied, because this is apparently prototypical behavior. On DCZ however, the brakes go away almost immediately once you set them to release. But these are supposed to be the same trains, just with different liveries due to DCZ being set in the past. Is that intended behavior?

Thanks, it’s not really the acceleration of the train I was wondering about, as I would expect a DMU to accelerate more slowly than an EMU. It was more about how long it takes to increase the throttle percentage when increasing power. Again, this could be (and likely is) completely realistic, I have no information to the contrary, but it seems to take a long time to get the power level to increase, particularly compared to how much faster it is to apply the dynamic brake.

    Completely prototypical.

Time to reach 100% power: 15 seconds.
Time to reach 0% power from 100%: 5 seconds.
Time to reach 0% power from 100% withe lever in OFF: 1 second.
    Time to reach 100% dyn-brake: 5 seconds.
    Time to reach 0% dyn-brake from 100%: 5 seconds.
Time to reach 0% dyn-brake from 100% with lever in OFF: 1 second.

I stalled on the hill just afther Tharandt, I was coming up to a red at first so was down to ~35 km/h, though the signal was green by the time I reached it. After that I kept losing to much speed, decided to apply more power, but slipped above 70%, which caused me to loose my last bit of speed and be unable to restart.

I'm just glad there is a nice large analog clock with a second hand!
Now can time the passenger stops without needing your own stopwatch.

Timetable bugs I found so far:
S3 service 37928 starts with a five-minute long red signal wait due to incoming train to adjacent platform, making it impossible to be on time for the rest of the service or even the return trip
RB30 17329 (maybe others as well, didn't check) have Freiberg arrival at 18:01 (which is the time of departure of the previous stop and thus impossible) while the Load Passengers command is at 18:03
Also, generally there are a lot of services with unspecified arrival times, which is strange, you can't know if you're running late or not without checking the Load Passengers command time at the timetable, which is fine I suppose, but I don't get why. If already there is an indication for arrival time on the HUD, why not use it?

But, on the bright side ( :)), I totally retract what I said about it being too dark when driving the 143, apparently I just didn't know that there is a brights switch (on the other side of the console from the other headlight controls, which is why I remained ignorant of it this whole time). Once I clicked that on it was plenty bright enough to drive.

Tu as un bouton juste en dessous du pupitre pour cela, sur le coté gauche.
(Person was asking about how to lower curtains in the BR 612 - which is below the desk on the left hand side)

I was more concerned with acceleration. It feels quite slow for the technical data. It also seems rather tortured on hills. But if it's like that in real life, then that's just the way it is.

Not sure if the real thing has a notched power handle but yes, it ought to be quicker to go through the notches. One of the problems is that DTG insist on hanging onto the % power system which started with Kuju in MSTS and is not how most train throttles work. They really need to ditch the % equivalent altogether.

OldVern, depends on the type of locomotive as to whether you have notches or continuous throttle. Yes, the 612 is diesel so would expect notch type throttle, though that strange way of applying power begs one to wonder if it does.

Notched throttles are really more an American thing- even on electrics. A convention going back to the first FTs and the method of MU control (3 wires give you eight control signals- who says binary coding is new?)

For me it looks quite believable, 2x750 HP isn't that much for some 120tons the train weights. Add to that a hydraulic torque converter, which by itself is a pretty lazy feeling coupling, and you got exactly you have in TSW.

In comparison, the Talent 2 has (according to wiki), at least 2700Hp, and because it is electric, it also got full torque from standstill.

I would guess, It has notches exactly the way it is depicted in TSW. You have one spring loaded notch for power increase. You push the the handle there and wait until the power level is your desired level. You cannot increase your throttle any faster irl, as you can in game. This control scheme is actually pretty standard in locos.

Sorry for coming back to the post again but I am curious. Did anyone else get a service where it tells you to shunt a Talent 2 on a non-electrified rail? To me it happened after completing and going back to freemode on Timetable Service S3 37924 Dresden Hbf - Freiberg (Sachs) 16 : 35. It's quite odd as it seems like a pretty big oversight. I even tried using the V60 shunter however there was a red signal so no luck there.
Still love the route though it feels very busy and unique.

I am loving the route and 612. I have really had to bring my A - game when playing the 612 services.
The theory is easy notch up/notch down and brake but in practice very hard to handle the gradients.
My favourite aspect is the Ebula/GNT screen even though its not a full implementation it means I have been able to drive a German route pretty much HUD less. I still need a peek just to see when I am getting close to stations. I dont play German routes enough to have learnt all the speed changes. Whereas I am HUD less on all my modern UK routes.
I was just barley on time in one of my 612 services arrived at Floha a minute late time. Then a technicall issue with the brakes not releasing meant I left 3 minutes late. If the brakes dont release press the release button next to the Release brake key.

That's a bit strange, I didn't have a red light in that scenario, so I drove onto the ramp fast enough and then came up without any problems.
Were you possibly going too fast at the beginning? I always dawdle a bit because I set up the driver's cab (PZB, lights, etc.) and then I never actually drive the freight trains in PZB Type M faster than around 110 km/h in order to have enough reaction time for the PZB. So the signal was probably already green when I got there (and I had a nice parallel run with a passenger train in the Freital area).

I think that the Raildriver implementation on the 612 is possibly as good as it can be. The throttle/brake lever is pretty awkward to use with the RD. But I think that's because the RD doesn't have a spring-loaded and notched lever for it. What I've been doing is ignoring the RD throttle/brake lever and using the rest of the RD anyway (mostly the T-handled brake, reverser, lights and wipers so far).
The rest of the RD works fine and I use A+D for the throttle/brake lever. I can't imagine a way of using the RD with the lever where it would be better than using A+D, and that's just a limitation of the RD vs the 612's controls imho.

edit: As I think you're suggesting, they could have a middle position on each side which was the 'hold' position and moving it to the extreme end would set it to increase throttle (or increase brake). I think I'd still find it awkward though, a bit like the reverser on the Bakerloo line, the hardware lever wasn't designed for it so compromises need to get made in one way or another.

Really like the bright headlights of the 612 but it makes rain at night look very bright and too distracting. When you go to normal headlights, the rain doesn't get that issue.

Like the dedicated button for the blind. Very cool. I couldn't find a way to close the curtain on the cab door. There are also remote buttons for passenger doors in the cab you can use. Going to shunting view (walking up to window) doesn't look outside. Played a few hours so far and have been really enjoying the 612.

So I finally finished my first full run with the 612 last night. My first run I tried I did exactly what Matt did on the release stream (and I'm pretty sure at the same station too), I realized 200m from the station I'm supposed to stop. After doing the back of up shame, I forgot about PZB restarting in start program and then rage quit after it got upset. Lesson learned, you gotta pay attention on this route lol
The 612 really is a phenomenal train. The improved headlights, sound, functionality are all fantastic and if DTG can keep to this standard moving forward, 2022 will be a good year. The traction interlock if the door selector isn't returned to "lock all" threw me off too, but if that's prototypical, then great.

What I don't care for though, is that the Dresden area is still the poorly optimized resource hog that it is in Riesa-Dresden. In my run last night, at Dresden Hbf I struggled to maintain 25fps. 30-35 after leaving the station, then 40-60+ once I got outside of Dresden with occasional drops, which is entirely normal for my PC in this game.

I love the route itself. It is a constant challenge with all those climbs, descents and curves. A real roller coaster that never gets monotonous and boring and offers unique sensations.

The 612 is a whole new and very demanding driving experience that forces you to be very attentive with the new safety system and with a very well implemented tilting physics. And it sounds very good too, with superb mixes. The screeching noise when cornering and going through junctions, the horn, the sound of acceleration and braking, the windscreen wipers, the difference in volume between having the windows open or closed... all perfect, with the right volume. And the headlights are also very good, they make driving at night a pleasure.
When I get to my destination I don't want to get off this train!

The construction of the route is good, my sincere congratulations to the team. I've never been there to compare it with real life but I think it has a superb setting, with lots of details and a good distant landscape. I also like the signage. And the fact that they've put lots of trains and locomotives in the yards and sidings certainly makes the route feel more alive and immersive.

The services available for the BR 363 are not too many but a lot of fun thanks to that ramp. And among the freight ones I like ones with a rather long car transport train (44 wagons I think) that due to the peculiarity of this route often the front part is uphill and the rear part downhill or vice versa.

On the negative side, the sounds of the BR 185.6 Railpool are quite unpleasant so I don't feel like driving it, the good thing is that it can be replaced by the 185 MRCE with the improved sounds or by the 155.

There are some services at Freiberg with the talent 2 that can't be completed because you are diverted to a non-electrified track.
Oh and also the catenary is missing from the last section at Dresden station. I would like to know where the BR 143 gets its power from to be able to start the train!

All in all, a very good route that I don't regret buying at full price. In the German routes I still have Riesa-Dresden as my favourite because of its great variety and this one for me is in second place tied with Ruhr Sieg Nord.

I love that both the big screens in the 612 show information. I do find the right-hand screen difficult to read without zooming in (due to it being on a PC screen I think). This makes me think that proper EBuLA would be cool to have but at the same time that it would apparently be showing the same information as the HUD, and that in this case using the HUD possibly gives around the same information and so isn't that unrealistic.
Loving the route so far. Ran the first scenario with PZB turned on yesterday and had one emergency brake for a missed speed sign (not sure if that's my driving or that a lot of the route was green, either way not bad :D)

A few more notes about the DLC.
It is fun to drive, learning the 612 is challenging. The track looks good and also runs well from the performance (XSX).

It would be nice if the font on the right monitor was bigger in the 612. It is currently really hard to read. I wonder if Xbox One players with lower resolution can even see it properly.
Furthermore, the camera control sometimes doesn't work. Switching to the outdoor camera sometimes works, sometimes not (mostly at stations, but not always). And sometimes you are outside, but you can't move. But a bit later it works again.
I also wonder if the "delay" when pressing the Sifa/PZB button on the gamepad is intentional. That is already "noticeable" later until the switch moves and the sound is heard.

It would be interesting to know if the old DR passenger cars will play a role again at some point? Maybe with a steam locomotive? :) Hm ...

schorni Interesting point about the font on the right monitor. There could almost be an option to just display 2 numbers one above the other, in a really big font (not mandatory but you could enable it), or to have the read of the text displayed but the number themselves really big.
