So, after a few runs on this route, I have to say, WOW.

The BR 612 is a great new unit, combined with the route choice, it offers not only a very different German experience, but a different driving experience across all of the TSW content. The 612 looks great & sounds great, I especially enjoy sitting in an external cam near the engines, here you can also see how significant the tilt really is. The driving experience here is incredible, even in the British class 101 I am not this busy, GNT, SIFA, PZB and the route layout, all combine to make an engrossing experience.

The 185.6 is surprisingly getting a fair bit of attention from me too, the new livery is quite nice (welcome, Railpool), and certainly distinctive, the sounds on the 185 surprised me quite alot, I was expecting a 185.5 clone, however there is definitely a new mix here. The 185.6 on this route with PZB, speed changes and various inclines really make for a fantastic freight haul.

The route itself is generally well modelled, although there are sporadic bits of missing catenary, along with Chemnitz very clearly not being set in 2013, which is strange considering so much effort went into making Dresden the 2013 layout, I'll also add that Chemnitz is very, very bright. On the topic of lighting, this is the weakest part of the route, I cant really put my finger on it, but it is just off, it feels too bright on specific sources such as train reflections and tracks, so I've mostly been playing with clouds on high. This does bring me to the next area, atmosphere, this route has tons of it, I love the industrial countryside backdrop, and the way the route is scattered with locos, shunters and coaching stock. My favourite section of this line has to be between Dresden & Tharandt, leaving the busy HBF, through Altstadt with all the stored rolling stock, then running alongside the river and main road up to Freital, before taking the sharp turn at Tharandt, on the approach to the rampe is really immersing, loving it.

    Some other points;
Big thanks to Joe for allowing the 442 here to sub, I seriously cannot stand the lifeless Dostos.

DTG to possibly feedback to Skyhook that they should use the new 185.6 sounds on the 187, sounds more appropriate than the 185.5.

The 112.1 not being plastered on every freight and passenger service is great, every other route I seem to see the 112 subbing the majority of AI locos.

Reused stock needs to be sorted better, I now have 2 DBB 363's, 5 Dosto Cab Cars and 3 143's.

Would be great to see the 185.6 subbing on other routes.

PZB/SIFA button on the PS controller is still a nuisance, having to use keyboard for these operations.

Performance seems quite stable (and high) which makes a nice difference.

Dresden AI is great, great work Joe.

However the lighting was done, seems worse than previous routes.

Great rolling stock options out of the box, only issue here is the way it is presented to you if you own them already.

Overall this is a solid DLC, and I can see this being one of the most recommended routes for TSW, great work everyone that had input.

Indeed. It‘s been many years since I‘ve been on one and I couldn‘t really recall what they sounded like. But when I was in the TSW cab for the first time and accelerated, I immediately thought “That’s it!” Was thrown back right to when I last rode one :)

The smart PZB from DRA should really make a comeback. Much more comfortable for a controller.

Decommissioned locomotives and wagons look really nice. Freight stations are not empty. DTG good job.

So it's not something I was imagining? I don't know how the real ones sound but I noticed a dramatic shift on how this route sounds. Or my volume was way too high but normally I don't hear much of the game. But this time I could feel the train vibrate. I never had this game make my living room vibrate before but this route does. And it's awesome as it is quiet in the cockpit as it should be but it sounds way more realistic because of the vibrations

Tried to spawn at 10.50am in Dresden to watch the AI like Matt did in the release stream and *bang* TSW crashed completely on PS5. Tried twice again afterwards but same result. :(

My guess for this would be the amount of other DLC you have installed as even if this is not being used (for the route, layers, substitutions etc.) It's still taking up memory.

Since it's not his PS5, I would guess Matt only had the minimum DLC required installed (DCZ, RDN, the 101, HRR and HLB if I remember correctly).

You can replicate this yourself by installed all other DLC however hopefully will be resolved with the PS5 50GB DLC fix, partially part 2 where we'll be able to decide exactly what DLC is mounted any one time. This will allow us to only load the minimum DLC, maximising the amount of availible RAM and hopefully prevent these sort of out of memory crashes.

Well I have uninstalled a fair amount of DLC but a crash like this has nothing to do with the 64Gb DLC limit, which is arbitrarily imposed by Sony, and not a limit of the console itself.
Edit- I removed Riesa-Dresden and it worked, so that is an AI services issue. What I do not understand is why these extra layers are crashing a gen 9 console.

Because TSW2 is a poorly optimized game.

I have all the layers installed and haven’t seen a crash in 9 services, aswell as around 20 minutes of stood in Dresden watching AI.

You're right, it's not related to the 64GB limit, although the fix for it will almost certainly fix this issue.

The issue is there is too much DLC mounted as the game currently mounts everything you have installed and this has an unnecessary performance impact as each DLC's index is loaded into memory.

Uninstalling enough unrelated DLC should give you enough memory headroom to stop the crashing however removing Risa-Dresden (or any of the DLC required for AI layers) certainly will as this frees up the memory required for the AI Loco's which is much larger than a DLC's index.

Why don't DTG find these issues in testing? One of the reasons is it's really time consuming to install additional DLC on a dev kit every time they make a new build so a lot of the testing is done with the minimum required DLC, not all of it.

Outbifbinterest, how many additional routes do you have installed apart from those required for layers?

    I’m sat right at 62.8GB with a mix of 16 routes & 12 locos.

Unfortunately this is not the case. I have already tested this theory by uninstalling all DLC except Reisa-Dresden and Dresden-Chemnitz, and it crashes every time if I use Explore on foot or timetable mode. Remove Reisa and alle ist gut.

Interesting. It'll give it a whirl tonight and see if I have the same issues.
