Not sure if I'm doing something wrong but,
when I try to play a workshop scenario it tells me I need to buy add-ons
even though I do have the required add-ons for that scenario.
The game will allow me to buy them again (if I was that stupid)
The start button is greyed out and only the "Buy Add-ons" is active

Before subscribing to the workshop content always look for the requirements needed before downloading. Otherwise you will not be able to play until you get what is needed to run that workshop route.

Best to look at the workshop add-on see what it requires, then search the steam store to see if it shows in your list of paid content. If not then you will need to buy it.

That is my problem, I do have the DLC required for the scenario I was going to try
but only the "Buy Add-ons" button is active
The start button is greyed out and that is as far as I can get

Also a lot of the time you are better running worksop scenarios from the Standard Tab not the Workshop Tab.
Frequently the Drive button in the workshop is greyed out but the same scenario works fine when run from Standard Tab.
It is often to do with un- necessary addons, that are automatically added when the author uploads to the Workshop, but are not actually required.
    Hope that helps

Indeed. Starting from the Career/Standard/FreeRoam tab not only obviates this "phantom dependency" problem it makes the scenario easier to find in the first place (listed alphabetically by route then title) and gives you access to the "F2 dodge". You can run a scenario even if you don't have all the necessary DLC which will start with an error message offering the options to edit or exit it. The third unlisted option is to press F2 to bring up save position then cancel which clears the error message and lets you carry on. It's not foolproof because the missing DLC might be vital to you completing the scenario. Then again it might just be missing an item of scenery from another route and you'll never notice its absence.
