So so so very happy to see a steamer making it after all these years! Will grab it for sure. I am just obviously it hasn't been done before for TSW titles but from the previous sim, you had a mix of "Pro" range steamers to standard simple simulations. Then there's everyone's favorite team, Steam Sound Supreme which cranked up the features for the default vanilla steamers with great care and success. How far will this steamer extend for features, will it be in "Pro" range? or will it after the release, get further development to bring it to a pro level where if you are familiar with this product line, it is intended for serious and enthusiastic players that want the "real" deal so compared to standard product it would aim to have at least 90% of the locomotive fully operational.
Bossman Games are involved with DTG in the development of steam locomotives for TSW. I'm hoping operating steam in TSW will be similar to their TS products. Matt mentioned on stream that there would be two ways to operate steam, one focusing on solely driving with an auto fireman and another where you can manage firing as well as driving. The more finer details of controlling them haven't been shown off yet as the Jubilee and 8F models weren't driveable as of the Festival of Rail reveal, it's still heavily in development right now.
I think TSW locos tend to be the same sort of level as the "Pro" range. Also, although BMG are involved (and hopefully have a really positive input into what we get, obviously), I think/hope that the level of modelling will be at least up to the Riviera in the 50s route locos by DTG. AP helped with the sounds for the wagons on the new route iirc. Some of the recorded sound clips for the Jubilee were shared on the preview stream and were generally very well received. However, the sounds then need to be translated into in-game sounds in TSW, and this can be part of the challenge I think.
