Now, how do I write a question , without it really being a question. Matt mentioned on a stream a week or so back if I recollect that the team were going out to get some recordings (think it was the SOS streams) and whether we would be interested in seeing more.

It made me ponder and think it would be interesting to see more behind the scenes work that goes on, it’s engaging and I personally found the SOS really different and exciting in terms of seeing the teams early days excitement in a route. If we are slowly moving back to a historical time (it is ,scarily) whereby travel is easier and the team is out then it would be great to see more of the

    • Days out researching, photographing, videoing routes.
    • Same with trains
    • Their cab rides, rides on trains.

I appreciate someone has to capture this, top and tail it (if they need it corporate, personally I’d gladly watch phone videos) but as routes are announced it would be great to see how things come to life and go on those journeys with the team. redrev1917 ill pick on your vlogs here, I believe I saw one of you German trips and sat in Uk it was interesting seeing something captured in real life Ive used in game for years

What do you think DTG could share in developer diaries?

    To jump onto this one:
I'd love to show more behind-the-scenes stuff (and the plan is to share some SoS bits in the coming months). I really enjoyed the Festival of Rail stream, and I certainly learnt a thing or two!

We did take a camera-person to the recording at the Great Central Railway, so we're hoping to be able to use some of the film and photo footage in the build-up to release. Watch this space!

DTG JD this is brilliant news. I appreciate there are NDA's etc and you can't be sharing stuff as it happened but in the spirit of worlds strongest man etc , if it was captured and then used in the build up it would be super.

It might give you some scope to do side by side comparisons of route vs real life, train vs real life etc.
    How the sounds are captured?
    What questions are asked?

Appreciate too that it might not be possible with every railway but I genuinely think they would make fascinating and potentially sales increasing content. Cheers for the swift reply.

Would be nice and definitely increase the fun towards new routes. I loved the way things were shared about the steam route during festival of rails. I almost forgive DTG for not creating a Dutch route as the first steam route ;)

Agreed, I was getting excited when Matt was talking about all the signals. I was thinking "best start learning in advance"

I even wheeled ts21 out the bad graphics retirement home juts to try one of the steam trains that bundles with that

Not certain if it will only feed the feeding frenzy of speculation.

When Peninsula Corridor first came out, I remember enjoying the discussions about DTG’s visit to SF-SJ. It was fascinating to hear about how all the recordings were made and where the microphones were placed. We also heard about how the trains were actually driven on the route.

Seeing some of this work on video and then seeing how it translates into the model would be very interesting to me.
