New update for this beautiful route. https://rail-sim.de/forum/filebase/entry/1604-rodachtalbahn-plus-3-0/
It’s fantastic. Schienenbus, the creator, gave me a prelease version. Here is the first look on the new section.
It is a beauty and is a very good representation of the area. Hof was a border point with the old East Germany, every train changed engines so the engine shed was very busy. Not so now but only 8 years ago (on my last visit) there was still a lot of activity. Today the through traffic is just that. Steam days and diesel days up to the mid 90s had huge variety of engines from the former East and West. The period 1965 - 1990 is when my version will be set so I can run the last of the DB BR01 pacifics, the DDR BR118 diesels and BR01.5 pacifics, DB BR218 diesels and a whole variety of "supporting cast members", the diesels in a variety of liveries. Marktredwitz is still a "border" station (with the Czech Republic) but no customs.
Got the new segment on my TV and watching now. I saw this at 2.1 but have yet to install; can just do this one now at some stage.
Just did a quick drive from Neuenmarkt–Wirsberg to Hof and the only thing I saw that was not quite correct is the people walking in the platform at Neuenmarkt–Wirsberg Peter
You mean you don't wade through concrete like it's not there? You are a weird person. Kidding aside, the look of the route is great for a freeware product. This would be a definite get.
Interestingly, Munich to Garmisch Partenkirchen is a requirement, and it's the only German route I've done videos on my channel for to date. So I could jump right into this. More a question of whether I have scenario stock by then.
I have a problem with my understanding of the signalling Approaching Hof from the south I get a vr (distant) showing clear Then the Hp (stop) signal outside the station shows Green with no restriction - the VR is for the next signal at the other end As soon as I pass this signal the line speed drops to 40kph without warning Am I missing something? hayward.john48 I seem to remember reading you know a lot more than me
Peter the signal would display the speed limitation if it was below the permanent speed limit, as it doesn’t it would seem that a permanent, line side, sign is missing. There should be an advance sign showing the reduction, it may be there but not easily visible or it may have been missed. I note that Schienenbus is receptive and is still working on other parts of the route and I would expect there will be updates with the next release. It is an amazing piece of work.
The line speed on approach is 80 then 60 - shortly after the signal is a [6] board but you are held at 40 by the signal. I might ask on RailSim.de
Sounds like a script issue. Or a track rule thing, because i do not have that issue. Are you using the latest Signalteam scripts?
It's possible the distant signals work differently as these are new models, according to the Readme for Deutsche HV-Signale V 9.71. You may have to do some experimentation with them to figure out how they operate. The manual itself could do with some clarification of how the signals work in the route.
They work just like any other German route. I think the builder assumes you have knowledge of German signalling. hayward.john48 Peter is right. If the next main shows a restriction the distant signal should reflect that. That’s how the h/v system works. It does not take line speed into account.
I am not disagreeing with you or Peter. It was not clear to me in the photos that the Main signal display was active, it appeared to be blank in which case line speed applies.
I downloaded the required assets and installed them - and I assumed they would just work. I will reinstall them again
The main display is blank and I expected the line speed of 80 to continue for about 150mtr where the HUD shows the drop to 60 I will reinstall the Signal Team scripts again and try the run
Peter, I have since done a run into Hof from the South (all my previous runs were starting from Hof) and I found exactly what you reported but I was half expecting it and yes, instead of 60 it suddenly dropped to 40 after passing the signal post. I have the version 3.0 installed ( a clean install).
Thanks John. - Not me going mad then I will post a comment on RailSim.de - unless you wished to? I expect you could explain it better than me
Please carry on, meine Deutsch is sehr sclecht and hopelessly laboured! Getting old, I used to be near fluent but haven't spoken German since 2013 and like old bones, if not used - seizes up. At a guess Kim Olesen is monitoring and reporting, I hope so! or maybe Martschuffing
Rail-Sim.de accepts posts in english. I am a veteran there and never post in German. (Out of respect for the language lol) The thread is here: https://rail-sim.de/forum/thread/33364-rodachtalbahn-plus-3-0/
Already a couple of replies. Just for the purpose of everyone here being on the same page regarding whatever the fix is, here's what they say: First, EberhardG: Second, Schienenbus: IIRC, Peter, you already had the v9.5 signals (and the v9.71 files) installed? I find it curious that Schienenbus is able to get HP2 with no problem, yet two people here found they didn't get that. Makes me think there might be a proper install order for the scripts to work.
This is a long shot, but my guess is that Peter ran the quick drive. Sometimes signal scripts do not start properly if there is no AI traffic to work with. 749006 Are you running the passenger QD or the Freight QD? The Freight one might take you to another track, and then you and Schienenbus are really trying out two different things. 749006 Did you install the latest version of the DB tracks (i think that’s what they are called). Could be something as simple as different track rules.
I started by running the Quick Drive from Neuenmarkt-W to Hof and got caught out by this signal. So I did a free roam from Hof Hbf to the next station south and returned to take a few pictures of the signal as it did it again. And John had the same result Peter
749006 Real Drives are released tomorrow. It will be interresting to see if the problem persists, if you drive them.
749006 REAL DRIVE advanced scenarios for the fantastic and extensive freeware route Rodachtalbahn 3.x are live. 6 drives all in all. Let random red main signals, random train crossings, random rolling stock on sidings, make your drives interesting and ever-changing. https://rail-sim.de/forum/filebase/...ed-rodachtalbahn-plus-3-complete-6-scenarios/ Beware that the list of dependencies is a little longer than usual, since the route is freeware and comes with no rolling stock.
Thanks for the notice of the update. Got the required routes at discount and installed the route. Very impressed with it.
