Been a while since I've done one of these, but I'm back with a suggestion for a Diesel legends of the great western style DLC for Brighton Mainline, set in the connex era, featuring the following trains: Class 421 The class 421s were built in 2 batches, from 1964-65 and 1970-72. They were used on fast services to Brighton. They would be in Connex yellow and white livery. A 421 at Clapham Junction. Class 423 These slam door units were built from 1967-74 and designed for metro and suburban services with doors between most rows of seating. They would run on slow services and in Connex yellow and white. A 423 next to an NSE unit. Class 205 Built from 1957-62, these DEMUs are nicknamed thumpers because of their iconic engine sounds. They operated on unelectrified lines, namely the Hastings - Ashford (Marsh link) and Uckfield lines. They featured a Diesel engine at 1 end of the consist. They would operate down to south Croydon and have AI at Brighton. They would be in Connex yellow and white. A 205 at East Croydon Class 456 Built from 1990-91, these units ran on metro services. Unlike the other stock in this proposal, the units have sliding doors and are much more modern. They would be in Network Southeast livery. A 456 in NSE.
Bring it on now we have a 3 cig 3vep emus. this can layer to another 1980s-1990s route the Hastings line after 1986 electrification project
These are Mk1 & Mk2 coach shell Multiple Units. On Hastings Line 205 got replaced by 421 & 423 after the 1986 electrification programme. Present-day versions rail tour like NTP giving ECW Cathcart
Meh, I’m not really a fan of the current British Rail era routes. They all seem to be either freight (which, to me, is tremendously boring) or a route which could have benefited much more from a modern day variant, ie Northern Trans-Pennine or the upcoming Spirit of Steam route. (Side note, why is it always northern ones getting the past treatment?) Also, I suppose I grew up in the late 2000s and the 2010s so I’ve always been partial to that era. Something set during the middle of the privatisation period would be much more fun.
Now I'm no Southern Region enthusiast but I would really enjoy this. I'll agree with the others who would prefer the NSE era but either way, it'll be great to have some more proper historic trains in the game.
