On BR146.2 both PZB and LZB work, but on pbzfa only PZB works. Does pbzfa have no LZB system in real life?
The Dosto Cab cars dont have LZB in real life. There is only 1 model of Dosto Cab cars that do have it, but these are only driving on 1 route irl.
That is interesting, as I personally have been on a 761 cab car that had LZB installed in Freiburg (some time ago, though). At that time they also had other types of dosto cabs that had LZB in that area. Also, as my source tells me, there are quite a number of cab cars that have LZB installed throughout Germany. Not quite sure they are still used, though. Are your informations more recent, maybe?
My source is this: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_von_Doppelstockwagen_der_Deutschen_Bahn There you can see that the 766.4 is the only model that has LZB installed.
Depends on your definition of useful. AFB and LZB do slot together but aren't really meant to be used as an autopilot. You're still supposed to slow down manually instead of letting AFB (under LZB control) do it for you. LZB does brake more gently than AFB on its own, but manual braking is still the norm as far as I'm aware.
As much as I love Wikipedia, in this instance there are definitely informations missing. However, I have nothing to back my claim up but my memory I would be very surprised if all of these have been deinstalled until now. Only explanation I could offer is that the 766.4 was maybe the only one which was originally ordered with LZB installed.
OpenMinded, perhaps this thread in the Zusi forums can help you out? Seems like there was a similar discussion over there.
No the 766.4 was and is used on a route around Nürnberg I think where you need LZB. It mostly runs with a BR 102.
Yes, very interesting, thanks for this. They even mention Freiburg, even though my experience was past those posts, however, admittedly also not very recent Regarding the 766.4, exactly, they were bought for operations above 160kmh, hence, it was definitely part of the original package. I have no idea how the rest of LZB equipped cabs got them. Very likely it was added at a later stage… EDIT: sorry, bad wording, they were bought for operations on routes above 160, meaning they had to have LZB…
Of course, the 296/7 series cab cars have it, but those are IC cab cars for the 101 and necessarily run over 160.
I was just reading it right now and from what I can see looks like one of them was based at Cottbus the end point of RE18 Nahverkehr Dresden it's a Bydzf. followed by Bremen Lower Saxony region if that's the case DTG should make Rollbahn Bremen area to test LZB Doppelstockwagen then have that layer to Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen RE1s
