aka sort out your graphics engine, Dovetail. This is from RSN, supposedly 0945 in the morning. It looks like imminent Armageddon: Now before anyone asks, I just refreshed my monitor settings due to Run 8 V3 looking a bit off and every other game I've played since looks bright, vibrant* and areas which were shown with pools of darkness can now see the detail. Even TSW2 in sunny weather looks okay, but factor in a bit of murk and, well, not even really playable. *My missus even complained browsing the Internet was a bit too bright.
Not sure, it's the second scenario in Journey Mode where you have to do a couple of freight transfers. The weather and season are therefore set so you can't change to something brighter.
It doesn't look too ridiculous compared to a really cloudy, cold and awful day in reality to me at least, the only thing majorly off are the clouds which look to flat and two-dimensional, but fingers crossed LondonMidland mod will fix that once it becomes standard.
Strange you should mention CRR, because on a recent service I ran, the night lighting seemed much improved. Wishful thinking, imagination or did something change? Or is it dependent on particular services. I'll do some more exploring.
If it's clear with moonlight, it's sometimes OK (when you're not in mountain-shadow). And the dark is pretty realistic- what isn't realistic is the glo-tube intensity of the feeble headlights.
It must be a route specific thing as the following image is taken from GWE in broadly similar conditions, yet the track etc. is visible pretty much as one would expect on an overcast wet day:
You need to compare time of day, with the date in the year too. Press escape and it should tell you the date - then we can see more what you're actually looking at like for like.
Both were in Journey Mode Matt and the save has been overwritten, but if I come across it again I’ll note the time and season details.
It has always seemed to me that RSN has a darker tone with cloudy skies than the rest of the routes, just as Peninsula corridor has a lighter or brighter tone with clear skies. I particularly like it that way, as it is a route focused mainly on freight, with many industrial areas and that darkness immerses me more in that kind of environment. That's why I almost always choose to play here in cloudy or rainy weather. For one of TSW's oldest routes, it's fantastic, especially with the addition of BR 155 and BR 363. And when TSG adds Ludmilla it will be...
And I just can't wait for preservation's update for the tracks to render in the modern TSW way meh meh
RSN Needs Sky and lighting improvements. Does it have the same issue as Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen and Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr where late night runs you cannot even see 300-500m in front of you due to poor High Beams when set to max
