I have a timetable for GWR, but how do I know what service runs from what platform? The reason I ask, I did an HST run from Reading to London, with the plan to 'catch' a 166 running back to Reading...all I knew was what time it departed and it's service number (from the timetable) but how do I connect this up with what platform that service would be from so I get on the right train? Regards
This website should help you (it's not mine): http://tswtimetableonline.azurewebsites.net/Service/FilterService. Just enter the service code of a selected train, e.g. 2R07 and it tells you what platform it will leave from.
Thanks for the heads up.. Another question, do the HST services that run from say Reading to London change their service numbers for the trip back? The reason I ask, service 1A02 6:45 from Reading to London via Slough arrives at Paddington, platform 7...but I can't find when (if) it departs from platform 7 back the other way Regards
Servicenumbers always change on endstations and maybe even on stations or sidings along the way. Mostly they change on places where not necessarily the same train will do the following service. Services have everyday the same number, as example your train 1A02 will always be on the same time and on the same route, but can be driven from different trains.
Each service has its own running code. An HST leaving Paddington will have a different code to the service it ran when it arrived. For example service 1A02 arrives at Paddington at approx 7:19, then waits until 7:36 when it forms 1G11 back to Reading.
THIS!!!! I was wondering if this was the case as I'd been scoping out the time tables and 'assumed' this was the same train, just needed someone to confirm my suspicions. Many thanks!
