I just wanna ride around as a passenger lol. I know it sounds like a strange request but I could swear you could do it in some sort of free roam in TSW2020. Did the feature get removed or something or am I missing the option?

Go to explore, then spawn on foot. It's a separate menu now, rather than selecting the player at the end of the list of trains (which still confuses me occasionally).

Spawn somewhere busy. Any train that appears in a timetable when you are driving will also be there if you are on foot.

By now we have some routes equipped with PIS station displays which are a good help when waiting for AI trains to take a ride. On the german routes you can see departure time for the actual train and for next train. Otherwise check the times in the timetable mode and then spawn within 5 minutes before the train of your choice leaves the station.

Use timetable mode to determine when the trains are going to be arriving then adjust your "on foot" time to line up a few minutes beforehand
