I posted this thread because I'm interested whats peoples favourite british rail livery from when they existed (1948-1997). My favourite is british rail large logo:
Mine is 110% without a doubt NSE, whilst I may have never been lucky enough to go on their trains, my dad told me about all his trips on their trains to places like Sheerness so I’ve done a lot of research on them, but the “toothpaste” livery is simple but iconic
Nice plain BR Blues (without the large logo), and I'm sticking with it. (Though the BR Express Blue does pique my interest)
I was travelling all over the country in a HST during my youth, loved that train. Really comfortable if you got a seat
Probably corporate blue for nostalgia reasons but it was dull and I believe I read somewhere that it was chosen in part because it didn't show up the dirt much if a train missed its turn through the washer which is rather cynical. Two-tone green suited Diesels and steam loco's in the the short lived express passenger blue looked magnificent.
Those who have seen my other posts know I often moan about how drab BR liveries often are, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a fan of the Regional Railways livery worn by 158s and 156s.
If you thought BR liveries were drab you must be really miffed at the German trains, it seems nearly all are Red! I love the BR blue liveries much better than the modern ones imo. Mind you I did like the GWR Green and I hate Green usually, lol.
