I was editing a scenario the other day and came across Darlington football ground (along way from the railway) in ECML York Newcastle. I know Arsenal stadium is in ECML London - Peterborough. In Edinburgh, There is also Murrayfield rugby ground in both Fife Circle and WCML North. Can anyone else remember any other sporting venues in TS, either Uk or around the World?
There are baseball parks and football(?) fields in many US routes and Britkits even does a cricket match with all players.
There are many. Are you interested in ones with custom assets, or will generic representations do? If generic, let's kick off with Dingwall FC in the Kyle of Lochalsh route.
Old Trafford stadium (Man United) is in the Manchester - Liverpool route. Millennium stadium is in the South Wales mainline/South Wales coastal route.
I think Custom Assets would be of most interest like the Old Trafford and Millennium Stadium Nick Y has posted. There also some football pitches on the approach to Dunbar but dont think they count! Just thought of another venue though - Newton Abbott race course on the Western Mainlines!
Wish I knew that a week ago when playing Edinburgh-Glasgow. Saw the building. LOL This is not on the Riviera Line DLC?
All with custom assets: Olympic Winter Park, Gamisch Partenkirchen - Mittenwaldbahn. Bergisel Ski Jump, Innsbruck - Mittenwaldbahn and various RSSLO routes featuring Innsbruck. London Stadium (London Olympic Park) - Great Eastern Main Line. Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Los Angeles - Pacific Surfliner Chester Race Course - North Wales Coastal, though no custom assets I'm aware of.
AT&T, now Oracle Park (Peninsula Corridor: San Francisco to Gilroy only) SAP Center (Peninsula Corridor & Peninsula Corridor: San Francisco to Gilroy) Evergreen Speedway (Stevens Pass) Yankee Stadium (Hudson Line)
I believe it's on both, because both the North London Line and the GEML share a bit of scenery and track around this area from what I know. I remember playing the GEML and passing near Stratford which is also on the North London Line.
No direct services from Richmond goes beyond Stratford. Of course freight from the WCML and GWML use the NLL to link with the GEML. I don't think anybody has mentioned Wembley Stadium in the NLL and GOBLIN routes. I'm currently using Wembley to substitute Twickenham in a route I am making.
I tried once - before I did the original North London Track - I tried putting Stratford from GEML into the Midland Main Line point of origin and it was 700m out - so I had to do Stratford from Scratch for North London Line, so sadly no it's not an easy task even for those that know how to change points of origins. (there is a lot more than just changing a tile number, the tiles are also offset, so one tile won't match another with a different point of origin)
No worries. I was not sure if it was even a viable merge, as in a service even existed in the first place.
Don't forget Anaheim Stadium on the Pacific Surfliner route. There are a couple of football stadia on some of the German routes also.
Chester Racecourse in North Wales. I think there's another racecourse somewhere but it escapes me at the moment.
Yes, possibly the one at Colwick Park on the Nottingham:Netherfield route. There was also one on the Cresston v4 freeware route that Darren Porter created many year's ago.
Thanks for all your suggestions so far. Two more I have found from driving around this week: Liberty Stadium Swansea (South Wales Mainline) And think this is suppose to be the Crucible Theatre Sheffield, where they play the snooker final? (JT Midland Mainline)
There's a very vague approximation of Carrow Road on the Wherry Lines. It's basically a box with windows.
Perhaps- I do have both Riviera routes. I noticed Pelaw dog track last night which is right by the main line in Birtley just north of Chester-le-Street* in ECML North. Do you mean Feethams? It was only five minutes walk from the station- a quarter of a mile perhaps. *Changed from "Chester" for clarity. If someone in County Durham (like me) mentions Chester they're almost certainly talking about Chester-le-Street.
No its the new ground ... the ground that loaded "Super Darlo" with debt that saw them go out of business. I went to Feethams a few times in the 90', but never made it to the new ground. In TS, the new ground is actually on the East Coast Mainline merge that uses JT Newcastle-York i think, but is very heavily altered to include electrification etc
Ah- Reynold's Folly, now owned by the local rugby club. As your picture shows it's pretty close to the eastern section of the diverted S&DR line to Stockton and Middlesbrough. I guess Reynolds hoped it might get a station at some point. I was thinking you meant the ECML (North) route set in the '70s/'80s long before this was built. Yes I'm catching up now. There's an older version which covers the whole ECML (North) route and adds the line east from Darlo' to Redcar and the line between Northallerton and Egglescliffe/Eaglescliffe. The newer one, which I don't have, stops at Darlo' but expands the eastern section to include Stockton and Hartlepool I think and doesn't even have (ECML North) as a dependency. One of them. Edit: This has Middlesbrough stadium too though an incomplete model.
Something tells me that'll be Ross County's Victoria Park, which is located near enough beside the railway, almost right next to Dingwall Station.
I found a Football field as well as a basketball court next to it on the Arizona Divide: Winslow - Williams route.
There's an athletics track and American football field (wrong, totally wrong) just before the Britannia Bridge in the North Wales coastal route re-release (TfW/Avanti).
Not forgetting, of course, Wembley Stadium. Which can be seen in JT's Chiltern Line and also JT's Metropolitan Line.
It is actually an American football field? I wouldn't expect that in NWC. My guess is it's actually a soccer pitch (yes, I said soccer, fite me, it's confusing calling both games "football").
I believe it's actually a full athletics facility (no soccer pitch) and supposed to represent Treborth playing fields (Menai track and field).
Well with "Soccer" you actually play with your feet so has more reason to be called football :P (rather than Hand Egg of the US version :P, which is just Rugby with armour! ) I think a few people missed The New Den - Millwall FC on South London Network Also Stamford Bridge (Chelsea) on the North London & Goblin Lines (near West Brompton)
I'm sure you must realise that that was in jest (there were a few ":P" in there. (I also know that "Soccer" is a uk word but is slang for Association Football )
Or kicks of a prolate spheroid that are made in an effort to place it as far away from the point of scoring as possible, making for a harder challenge for your opposition.
I can't entirely recall here, but I think Glasgow Airport Rail Link represents St Mirren Park (home of Scotland's worst club) at Paisley St James. Don't quote me on that though.
There is a rough approximation of Romford Greyhound Stadium on GEML, and Newbury Racecourse on JT's South Western Expressways - Reading. Also Bridgwater Rugby Ground on the latter route.
Just bought a couple of routes. Glasgow-Edinburgh includes Murrayfield Stadium (as does Fife Circle come to think of it) and Liverpool-Manchester supposedly includes Old Trafford. Now I confess I've never been to Old Trafford but it doesn't look like anything I've seen on the telly when watching the cricket. Shrewsbury's football ground is in Welsh Marches.
