Hello cheeky tank cars on the right at North White Plains...
    Tank Cars Harlem (2).jpg
Kinda confirms that the layering on this route will mainly consist of freight cars dotted along various places along this route, but no additional services. But I guess we'll wait and see what happens in the preview stream in just over an hours time.

It's a shame that they haven't included authentic PIS systems that actually are on this route irl, but oh well.

At first i thought this was a real photo until i saw the logo on the bottom, the engine look so amazing and the picture really pop out of this image. Now we need to hear the Realistic sound, engine, propulsion, horn, track noise such as the realistic sound of the train going over the track, junction, switch junction, bridge, and the screeching and curving sound, grand central terminal ambient, and the city environment.

Lovely screenshots. I hope the amount of services doesn’t disappoint me compare to LIRR.

It’s not there but please don’t post hundreds of pictures with details of every little tiny difference you find from the real world. There will be many things that aren’t exactly the same in this representation of the route. Not having that on the signs in the game is not an issue.

Well, nothing new in this article. I'll try and find time to listen to the stream. Maybe there'll be more information then. Not blown away by the screenshots, doesn't look very busy.
Wish I could share all this enthusiasm, but, based on two articles and a few rather empty looking screenshots, I'm not there yet. Need to see some AI and some rush hour passengers, some " hustle and bustle. "

Considering the amount of reference available for the pis, there is no reason why they couldn't get it right. DTG just love to copy and paste it seems. What a joke

Not sure how they would miss the logos when that is on every station sign on the railroad. I thought they were aiming for detail.

It reminds me of when they didn't even bother to put the gatwick express advertising at london victoria despite having the license

So for all the talk about the service number being around 260 service, the exact number is 263 (49 for the M3A & 214 for the M7A, which is weird that they have their own seperate services compared to LIRR where both the M3 & M7 subbed into the same services).

I also noticed in the service selection that it appears that we will be able to drive to the Hudson Line services as far as Yankees-East so that's nice. Also on the subject of that, although Yankees is represented, the depot beyond it is not, although you will see depot services come from there.

Plus, with Grand Central Terminal, it's only the upper level platforms. the lower level is apparently AI only.

Is the route really this dead IRL? Admittedly I did turn off the stream after 40 minutes because I wasn’t very impressed, but the thing that stood out to me was how dead the line was after Harlem 125th.

Joe, just a note about the timetable: Southbound service from North White Plains has the express leaving first with the local following. On the stream, the express service creeped up right behind Matt's train when in reality this wouldnt happen.

I am not very impressed with the stream but the same story was about CC and then suddenly I loved it.
This looks lifeless. Cartoonish. Not so atmospheric as Boston - Sprinter. I don't know.

So far I can see down the road a downloadable content for this route and also LIRR compatible the M9A since it has both Top Contact and bottom Contact shoes like the M8 for 750v DC Third rail Top Contact LIRR Bottom Contact Metro-North Harlem Line. In terms of Simplicity this runs like LIRR

Not sold on the skyline looking south from Harlem 125th. Can't put my finger on it, but it doesn't look- spiky - enough.

No " Rush Hour " passengers, may be added by next week. Since this is a near release version of the route, you'd think someone would have checked out that feature. Is this going to be another BML situation?
Also no faux New Haven traffic, well I wasn't really expecting it.
GCT was a ghost station, couldn't tell it was a major terminus in a major city. And I doubt it really is that dark and deserted.
North White Plains yard was as empty as many yards are in TSW, nothing moving in or out.
Sorry to be so negative, but I'm just not sold at this point.

This time I have to say I agree. The supposed justification for making the route so short is so that they could make what they did build really, really detailed- and then they just don't bother with obvious things like the station signs and PIS screens. At 26 miles, there's no excuse for cutting corners. Speaks to a lack of passion and commitment, the things that make Joe's and Maik's contributions so good: "Well, it's 3:30 on Friday, no point starting a job now."

Also, where are the people? There is more foot traffic on Sand Patch Grade, not to mention the dearth of vehicular traffic (which should be nose-to-tail, piling up at every stop light). And the ambient sound is equally non-urban: no incessant crowd murmur, no car horns, no sirens, no screams, no gunshots.....

Fun fact, the platform areas of Grand Central Terminal actually are that empty! The only places you see people normally is just before a train departs and when a train arrives. Most everybody waits in the concourse, not the platforms.

Route previews usually excite me but I admit that today I'm falling asleep. It looks so dead, no passengers on the train or on the platforms.... It looks like a post-apocalyptic version of New York. What a bore.

I have exactly the same impressions, was about to write that I find the route nice detailed and overall pretty, but the gameplay is not very exciting. But it's about what we could expect after the initial informations. Probably I'm buying the route anyway, because it's the first DLC in a while and I'm done with Tharandter journeys.

Nothing like that, it looks like the train is floating on Aladdin's magic carpet. Very very disappointing lack of these sounds and a step backwards from the last few releases :(

The route is lacking in traffic and I think they may have made the wrong decision in not putting in AI traffic for the other lines. I’d much prefer a few wrong trains filling out the route than the same emptiness of LIRR.

However, from the stream so far the route looks well made and detailed and the trains seem to be very good too. The correct decision was made to end at NWP and have the route made to a better standard of scenery I think.

It was never going to be an exciting route without the extra traffic, more of a pleasant pootle along with some interesting bits of scenery to look at and the inconvenience of picking up passengers (if they ever put any in). My first impressions are that it is a fairly good route.

That's what I also notice on stream, I remember correctly that Grand Central Terminal doesn't look that dark on the bottom level nor the top level. Its almost like the twilight zone from the stream compared to what it is in real life.

Yeah, that does help a little, and gives some nice short runs, but it still seems a bit emptier than it could have been.

No, it was already announced on the stream that no additional AI will be added from the New Haven Line. WYSIWYG.
