Hauptstrecke Rhein Ruhr is a nice, but very short route, and that's why I really don't like it. It would be nice to have it included as part of longer route. That's why I'm suggesting Cologne - Dortmund line for TSW2. It would use the same tiles that are used on HRR, and it would contain same services. Please note, that I'm NOT suggesting to replace HRR with this route. This route would not require HRR to work. The original HRR would be still included. But Cologne-Dortmund line would include a huge service variety. If this route also includes a branch to Solingen, we would have the full S-Bahn Rhein Ruhr S1 line. Because the Duisburg-Essen-Bochum section is already made, it would be make easier to build this route. The route runs from Cologne to Dortmund via Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Essen and Bochum. The Solingen branch runs from Düsseldorf to Solingen via Düsseldorf Eller and Hilden. Rolling stock would be:

    DB BR 425
    DB BR 101 (loco DLC)
    DB BR 146.2
NEW: High entry Dostos for RE services (these would also replace low-entry dostos on other RE lines on HMA, HBK, SKA and RRO)
NEW: DB BR 146.5 + Bombardier Twindexx IC2 coaches (not 100% sure does that stock run on this line)
    DB BR 422
    DB BR 403
    DB BR 406
    DB BR 185.2
    MRCE BR 185.5
    MRCE BR 182

Broken down by distance 55 km to Dortmund from Duisburg and 64 km to Duisburg to Köln comes out to 119 km (74 mi) 14 km longer than Riesa-Dresden original plan at 105 km 65 mi. For a freight locomotive that can also pull Doppelstockwagen Cab cars 766.2 and 767.2 High Entry with steps 780 & 781 a DB BR145 then have that do DB BR143 family duties on RSN HMA Hamburg-Lübeck and all German routes in Game. with Doppelstockwagen FT95 panel having destinations for all German routes. On the Köln End of the route have DB BR423 S-Bahn Köln version available together with DB BR1440 which can provide service on Rhein-Ruhr Osten S8 Düsseldorf Wuppertal Hbf Hagen Hbf route.

Also, we could get the S3 with the 1 stop branch to Oberhausen and the 4 stop branch to Hattingen Mitte.

For S3 Oberhausen it needs to be busy that's why it must be built as part of Hollandstrecke Duisburg-Oberhausen-Arnhem Utrecht that way S3 gets rush hour traffic with it following a Zevenaar Bochum Ehrenfeld Gbf HRR freight. Extend S3 to Oberhausen Hbf you have a dead Oberhausen Hbf on the other hand HRR merged with HDU Hollandstrecke Duisburg-Oberhausen-Arnhem Utrecht gets the S3 rush hour running.

I would really like to see HRR get extended to Koln and Dortmund. The section between Duisburg and Koln opens up so many possibilities such as ICE trains running on the route, Thalys trains running between Koln-Essen, 200-230kmh LZB action, longer runs for the regional, IC, and S1 services, and introduce sections of the S6, S68, and S11 lines into the game. This would make the route about 65 miles (104km) long. They could exclude the section to Dortmund, ultimately shortening the route to 54 miles (86km) which seems a lot more reasonable. I personally don't think extending the route to Dortmund is necessary since it doesn't really add much. It still would be nice to see, but they definitely need to include the section between Duisburg and Koln

Agreed. I see it as HRR Remastered DLC, not only longer, but can fix some of the horrible night lightning and bring it up to the detail level of Dresden.

You left out the S3 to Oberhausen Hbf because the S3 to Oberhausen has to follow a Zevenaar Rotterdam Bound Freight from Bochum Eherenfeld. Therefore HRR can be extended in three directions one to Koln via Dusseldorf Hagen via Dortmund & North to the Netherlands the Hollandtrecke Duisburg Oberhausen Arhnem Utrecht Amsterdam.
