This is a route that was in TSW and it would be coo to have it back in game so we have then two american electric trains and it could be set as presereved. and the ACELA could be added too.
Rather than bring that one back, which in any case DTG has stated can't happen for technical reasons, I would personally prefer Trenton-NYP. Have the Acela and layer in into NEC-BP. Take the ACS and layer it onto the new route. Add in NJT services. Timetable some freight with SPG layers. Done.
If the technology is there you can actually do this as Northeast Corridor New York Providence you would have three different chapters Chapter 1 Regional Driver Amtrak Regional Chapter 2 Commuter Rail Driver New Jersey Transit Newark Penn to New York Penn Station Metro North Penn Station access Connecticut Department of Transportation New Haven New London Chapter 3 High Speed Driver Acela Express Avelia Liberty. The Regional services take 4 hours from NYP to Boston via Providence way to think of that is doing Sand Patch Grade and clinchfield in the worst snow conditions with a heavy train.
if they do Connecticut department of transportation rail they’ll need to include Connecticut shoreline east chapter’s to TSW 2.
Very true. This route honestly needs to be let go. It’s a very poor representation of the NEC. Too many Amtrak services, no NJT, and 2 really bad endpoints. This route is not even high speed
https://media.amtrak.com/2016/08/new-stops-on-acela-mean-more-freedom-to-ride/ Even if Acela isn't/wasn't stopping at Trenton, sure enough that DTG could take the "artistic license" necessary to get this done.
If you are wondering how long was the travel time between Trenton and New York on the Acela and in the future Avelia Liberty 46 minutes between the two stations.
I decided to play NEC:NY for old time's sake in TSW2020 the other day and it made me think I would like to see this route completely remade for TSW2 with all the things fixed from the old version, namely: * ATC/ACSES being completely borked with it's random penalty brakes * Lack of AI / static traffic * Lack of Lineside road traffic * Unrealistic dwell times (esp at NY Penn) The TSW2020 version feels like a complete ghost town...but with all the improvements we have seen in other routes since, I believe DTG could bring it back to life. I honestly do not think it is a bad route by design and would compliment the existing NY routes we already have (LIRR, Harlem line and possibly Hudson Line in the future) ....but the 4 points in particular above give it that broken feel, which many people rightly complain about. These things which in my mind led to it not being ported over to TSW2 in the first place There is also the opportunity to extend it up towards New Haven as the TSxx version did (which may be a bit out of scope for a TSW route), but a little extra mileage past New Rochelle would be a nice gesture.
Newark Airport to New Haven is 85 miles 136 km( rounded to the nearest 10 km 140 km). Basically surpassing Sherman Hill by 9 mi 14.5 km since it's 76 mi 122 km. Basically making it the same length as a proposed International route to link the Dutch network and Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr the Duisburg Oberhausen-Arnhem Utrecht Railway.
Wait....isn't Sherman Hill 58 miles end to end ? Or are referring to total track including the alternate path making up the 76miles ? Usually people refer to end to end distance when speaking route lengths and in this case, Newark - New Haven would be way longer than TSW's usual.....possibly something like Newark - Stamford may be more within the realms of possibility
I wouldn’t mind seeing New Jersey transit on TSW 2 someday in the future I sure hope that’s the next route they’ll be working on.
Honestly I was always interested in the old NEC for TSW2020, but never got it as it had really bad reviews. But I love the Boston Sprinter part of NEC, I would love to see a revisit of the New York section. Maybe with a better selection of stations, as I've heard the current end stops for the route are quite awkward, but I guess something better could be done while still keeping NY Penn. With NY Penn they could even use LIRR stock as AI traffic for that short part.
I would like for the new york section of the northeast corridor to comeback. I personally think they should remake it either due New York- New Haven or Trenton section of the line.
New York Trenton you have NJ Transit express commuter trains in both Northbound and Southbound directions. Example is 15:25 New Brunswick 16:15 Penn Station.
