Hello, recently I picked up a copy of Train Simulator 2022 and have been really enjoying it. I also picked up the GBRJ bundle and after playing quite a lot of it I have noticed I enjoy playing the London-Peterborough route with the class 801 a considerate amount more (And the Portsmouth Direct line but that's my local line so I got to love it.) I don't have a preference for country but would like a high speed route which is immersive. Any recommendations? (I play on steam)
Frankfurt High Speed is a route I like - like the ECML it is up to 200km/h but there are a lot of other service that use the route https://store.steampowered.com/bund...ankfurt_High_Speed_Route_Extension_Twin_Pack/ Only £10.34 until 28 March Hamburg - Hanover is an older route but has a lot going for it with big yards and stations plus a long end to end run https://store.steampowered.com/app/222588/Train_Simulator_HamburgHanover_Route_AddOn/ It is cheap for £4.49 If you don't have much German stuff there is a good bundle to get https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/3601/TS__Hamburg_Hanover_Collection/ Which give you the route plus 4 more different trains Peter
If you like London to Peterborough, you can extend your fun up to Edinburgh. As mentioned Frankfurt High speed is pretty fun (it requires route and extension) and it can be extended up to Strasbourg. Of course there is TGV (which also requires route and extension for full experience) but it becomes boring quickly.
Tohoku comes out soon on Steam according to an announcement, already on the JT site. I believe it is Japanese. No word if Steam is tomorrow or Friday AFAIK, but those are likely dates unless it goes into next week or after.
Personally I would not recommend the new Tohoku route. It is a simple point to point with two types of MU, one for the local service and one for the High speed section More info here - https://www.justtrains.net/product/tohoku-high-speed-rail-and-main-line It is expected the Steam version will be identical
For highspeed routes: - The Tohoku I would not recommend too. Track laying is not good as at other ones. - Atlantic High Speed Route: older addon with a TGV route from Paris to Tours. It´s ... okay. Speed around 300km/h. , the quality of the cab is not realy good, but the TGV has good functionality for voltage change between highspeed section and normal sections. (But it´s not compatible with the TVM system from DTG) https://www.justtrains.net/product/atlantic-high-speed-route-and-tgv-atlantique-train - Ashford - Lille: it´s....okay. Speeds up to 300km/h. I believe its the same guy that builds the Atlantic High Speed. Voltage change has same combatibility so when you choose this route you should get the Eurostar from the website too, because DTG ones will not properly work with the TVM. https://ahsrailworks.weebly.com/#/ - Guiguang HSR: Guilin - Hezhou: Chinese Highspeed route for 300km/h (or was it 350?). available on Steam. Scenery is not the best. But be aware. There´s one section with some steep gradient in a curve - in those your train becomes very unstable and it can happen that you derail. It´s a gradient-curve problem and a generally TS bug. https://store.steampowered.com/app/..._Railway_Guilin__Hezhou_Route_AddOn/?l=german - LGV: Rhône-Alpes & Méditerranée Route Extension: available at Steam from DTG. TGV route with runs >1h and up to 320km/h. From all these routes I prefer this. But attention its a extension to Marseille - Avignon. https://store.steampowered.com/bund...Route__RhneAlpes__Mditerrane_Route_Extension/ - Southwest China High Speed: Biggest and fastest highspeed network route (semifictive!) available for TS. Speeds up to 350 (380km/h). Scenery is not the best, but a lot to drive. There are additional high speed trains you can buy (they are the fastest one): the CRH380A and CRH380D https://www.justtrains.net/product/southwest-china-high-speed-rail-network or https://store.steampowered.com/bund...d_Route__CRH_380A_High_Speed_Train_Twin_Pack/ - Tirol Austria - Brennerbahn / Unterinntalbahn: there´s a section you can drive >200km/h between Innsbruck and Wörgl. Mostly in tunnel. https://www.rsslo.com/product/tirol-austria-brennerbahn-unterinntalbahn-route/ - Frankfurt High Speed: as mentioned in earlier post. Track speed up to 200km/h, between Mannheim and Graben-Neudorf up to 250 (280). available at Steam by DTG. - Nürnberg - Ingolstadt: another german highspeed up to 300km/h. But....old route, bad scenery (with lots of failures in building). So I DO NOT recommend this route (its from Global Bridge Entertainment) - Bahnstrecke Strasbourg - Karlsruhe: from DTG too. German highspeed with section for 160-250km/h - Berlin - Leipzig: german route, I believe up to 200km/h. If buying, then not from steam - I don´t know if there´s the newest version. https://www.virtualtracks.eu/epages/63658908.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/63658908/Products/vT15-06 or on Aerosoft - Münster - Bremen. One of the best available routes. Really good scenery. Speeds up to 200km/h. Same as above. Should be better not from steam. https://www.virtualtracks.eu/epages/63658908.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/63658908/Products/vT18-10 or here: https://www.3dzug.de/?language=de&cPath=1_7_62&cat=c62_Muenster-Bremen--vT--Muenster-Bremen.html or on Aerosoft. Good ICE4 train: https://www.3dzug.de/product_info.php?info=p407_ice-4--br-412---pro-train---.html - München - Ausgburg: DTG route with speeds around or slightly >200km/h. Some faster english routes: - Western Mainlines (from Just Trains): would not recommend, Scenery not up to date. - London - Bedford - Great Eastern Main Line: London - Ipswich - London - Faversham: includes the HS1 from London to Ebsfleet. On the way to faversham there are slow passages too. - West Coast Main Line South: on Steam, by DTG. up to 125mph. Alternative the freeware version (which needs other payware stuff): availabe at https://alanthomsonsim.com/downloads/west-coast-mainline-south-v5-3/ ups, that was more than expected Map with routes https://umap.openstreetmap.fr/de/map/train-simulator-2021_252726#8/48.261/2.425
I also believe the freeware WCMLS is a route that existed on UKTS for years before the payware one. They are, I think, unique projects.
When I feel like hooning about I drive the APT P-Train along WCML Over Shap. The route is great- nicely detailed and much more varied and interesting on its own merits than I expected and driving the Class 87s looking out for neutral points in the catenary really keeps you on your toes. Having the APT throwing the scenery at you at 155mph is gravy.
So the Japanese one is pretty fun. The Chinese one is interesting but many tunnels. French one is really scenic and not many tunnels. The US ones are not super fast but do have wayside signals. Also US catenary is way higher than other countries so you can mix and match European and Asian high speed trains for variety. I'd say LGV Lyon-Marseille. 340 km long top speed 320kmh and little bits of traditional lines at each end as well! It's like 15 on sale now.
The US routes have signals as the High Speed services share the route with other trains. And the Overhead Wire is higher than other routes in the game. Chinese trains won't quite reach the wire. UK and European routes have the same wire height.
That is also available on a separate site, isn't it? I believe XC Route is found on the same site. See here.
Not sure that might be an older version Cyclone. Although i have no idea why i subscribed to ATS, it is a complete waste of time. I have started modding my merge as the track textures are different for all three parts. Also changed the track types to match up.
These are three different routes so the track is bound to be different between one route and another But then it is like that on the real railway And you only notice the difference at the change over points
So i changed them, plus ballast does not go from grey to yellow sand in a straight line in reality. Please don't tell me about the real railway. I worked on the REAL railway for 30 years, not the privatised rubbish we have now.
The only reason I will have to sub is as a finalized "Missing Link" approaches completion within a year. I can then take advantage of discounts, download all the subscriber-only stuff, and eventually let it expire. The challenge then will be not losing the subscriber stuff in a disk failure.
And I retired in 2016 after 44 years service - most of it on the train crew side - so don't assume I don't know anything.
You don't say i thought your piccie was a fake Plus i did not infer that you do not know anything. I think you were alluding to that fact in regards myself.
Not sure what the final missing link is sorry buddy. I was trying to work out yesterday if ATS will eventually release all the WCML sections. As a full Euston - Glasgow with the added Edinburgh, Birmingham and Liverpool sections. Seems a wasted effort if they do not. I am BR WR to the core, with no interest in the ECML. But do enjoy the WCML with it's connections to the LMS and Stanier (Swindon trained).
