It's a busy morning on the CB&Q in 1960 as the California Zephyr backs into Chicago's Union Station. One track over, an Aurora-bound commuter accelerates out of town with a set of worn out Pullman heavyweights, soon to be replaced by stainless steel bi-levels. On a typical hectic LA morning in 1949, an 0-6-0 backs out of LAUPT with a cut of passenger cars, bound for Union Pacific's coach yard on the other side of the Los Angeles River. On the other tracks, trains from each of the West Coast's big three prepare for their runs. On the far right, a 2900 has just backed onto The San Diegan, fresh from the nearby Redondo Junction Roundhouse. To its left is Southern Pacific train #99, The Coast Daylight, waiting for clearance to depart from the dispatcher. Hi all, apologies for lateness, but as they say better late than never. I award In reverse order:- In 3rd Place - joerg.kuenscher with this super shot at Bremen Station. In 2nd Place and runner up (just) - Craigie-C for the terrific Caledonian Sleeper. (just gotta love the AP Class 86) 1st Place and the honour of being this weeks winner is awarded to Buynot for this shot of EMD E8s on the Chicago Racetrack route. It really captures the "In the City" brief as well as having great composition.
