In 1958 the Runcorn (Silver Jubilee) Bridge in Runcorn was under construction. I was wondering if we will be able to see the Old transporter bridge in service and the newer Runcorn Bridge under construction. The old Runcorn-Widnes Transporter Bridge closed on 22 July 1961. The Newer Silver Jubilee Bridge was officially opened on 21st July 1961. Silver Jubilee Bridge - Wikipedia Widnes-Runcorn Transporter Bridge - Wikipedia
We definitely need a working transporter bridge in game, it would add so much to immersion just like the suspension railway adds immersion at Wuppertal.
I used the Runcorn transporter bridge as a nipper, I've also often crossed the Tees on the (well-known) Middlesbrough example and been across the Usk on the (less well-known) one at Newport. I think there were one or two in Germany, but I don't know whether they're still operational. The Bilbao transporter is still going strong and very well used.
The transporter bridge is there and animated, and there are very very early signs of construction for the new bridge alongside the railway one too.
Don't forget the Manchester Ship Canal passes under the railway at Runcorn too. I hope there's a ship or two to create a bit of nautical atmosphere.
There were some nice barges moving on the river in Riesa Dresden but then they mysteriously disappeared. I think I may have been the only player to see them before they were taken out because I am the only person that I know of who has mentioned them on the forum. It was a simple but nice animation that would be good on any route with a working river, or in this case a ship canal. Hopefully there will be some.
Please , if there are construction sites can we have something moving at them. It would be a real shame to have static diggers, no people again.
Au contraire, having a construction site with actual builders on would be highly unrealistic for England.
