    Hey folks,

As we announced earlier, our first preview of Horseshoe Curve will be taking place at 19:00UTC on Thursday 7th April, with Tom from Skyhook.

We'd love your questions on the route we can ask the team! Feel free to ask them in this thread, and we'll answer what we can next Thursday.

Will this use the same decade old flange sounds as every other train in both TSW and TS or are we going to finally get some new samples?

Any possibilities for locomotives add-on for this route on the future? Such as NS' latest DC to AC rebuild programme like AC44C6M and SD70ACC

Another question from me, how long is the coal train on this route? Is it still 50 cars long like Sand Patch Grade & Sherman Hill or is it 100+ cars long like any other trains from Sherman Hill?

But on the Sherman Hill, the route that implemented new train length system, the coal train is only 50 cars long, just a little over 900 yds in total. Other train like manifest trains, intermodal trains or grain trains have 100 cars long train and some exeeds 1.5 miles. I don't know why they don't implement it as well for coal train.

-How much differences/improvements on both brake physics and train consist are from the Sherman Hill version?
-Is the manifest train completely random or not?
-Any locos & rolling stocks gonna be subbed in or out of the route?
-How closely accurate is the shop and yards at Altoona, especially with the shop sign near it?
-And as an added bonus, is the park at the curve accessible?

What is different on this route? Any genuine new trains or features?

    Is the visitor centre accessible?

    collectibles?

    what makes this challenging?

How is it unique to sandpatch, Sherman or clinchfield?

    Will other things layer in?

Any new ambient scenery of the moving variety?

I find the headlights don’t light up the ground far ahead. I’ve heard your explanation about not wanting them too bright during the day because it would be difficult to read signs and would look bad during the day. Can the range of headlight glow be farther ahead so you can see at night like the locomotives from Peninsula Corridor?

Let’s cover some basics to not repeat Cane Creek:
    • Can you show a close-up of both trucks on the Gevo while stationary and while moving?
    • Do the number board lights on the Gevo work?
    • Can you show us the couplers between a Gevo and a freight car to see that the ride height is accurate?

Do both locomotives have authentic sound samples?
What new freight cars are included?

What improvements have been made since Skyhook did Cane Creek? A slightly reworked AC4400 turned out fairly badly, now we're getting a brand new loco.

Hi JD! If you see this, try to get an answer from Tom about the DB BR 187. It hard not to be able to use the AFB and the PZB properly. AFB seems to have only on notch on throttle (full) and PZB has no warning sound. And this has been going on almost a year. Skyhook has many promising objects going on, but they should tidy up the old ones. If you prefer to have the answer on the roadmap, send the question to Nat.

Probably be ignored here too so you've gained nowt. They've said it's being worked in, it's hugely complex. Nothing more beyond. Don't expect it soon when there is work to do that makes the company money ( like this thread or SOS)

ES44 GEVO: successor to the AC4400; similar but different (esp. the prime mover).

I had asked Skyhook games Back in Jan I believe if they were going to add the SD70ACU as they were used as helpers on this route wondering if they made it on the route?

Don't expect to get more than one new loco (if that) in a route. Nobody has ever even mentioned the SD70ACU. At best we'll get an existing loco repainted in NS livery, most likely the SD40-2.

this route is set before the SD70ACU's we're made the helpers it would still be the SD40E's as the helpers since this route is set in 2018

    1. Will we be coupling and uncoupling helpers?
    2. Will get to over take/be over taken by other services.
    3. Are there any plans for loco DLCs for this route? Eg Amtrak P42s

Will there be layers for foreign power locos? (aka CSX GP38, SD40-2, SD40, AC4400CW and UP AC4400CW, SD40-2, occasionally SD70ACe)
edit: I forgot about C40-8W, UP GP38-2 and CN GP38-2

Skyhook managed to turn the bogies the wrong way around on the 4400ce, and the rear bogie is still wrong. So i want to have a closer look on that before buying.

Its a mystery to me, they started work from the perfect spg 4400.

Set your expectations really really really low or you'll just be disappointed as always.I was excited about this route but at this point i just feel dread,This route been delayed so as to have it in better shape at release, but who's skyhook kidding we know whats likely to happen.

the thing with that is there are only 2 Amtrak trains one in each direction a day and they only stop at Johnstown and Altoona so putting a P42 on this route would be a waste

Now since the HSC route needs a GP9 for a static display at the curve tourist watch, had skyhook games also made a useable GP9 loco option as well, that just might have been good for some extra points.TSW2 definitely has room for a highnose GP of some kind.

One more question, since it's NS we're talking about - long hood forward runs?

Can we get a showcase of all available freight stock in the route? I noticed that the store page suddenly announced gondolas. I also noticed that the 89ft flatcar is now listed as a TOFC flat but doesn't appear to have any hitches to support trailers.

Also can we see if any of the DID panel on the Gevo works?

Not in the 2020s. LHF running was a tradition with both Southern and Norfolk & Western, but it gradually dropped away, along with the high-nose locomotives (only 10 SD40-2's and 59 GP38-2's still have them; that sounds like a lot until you realize NS rosters 275 of each).

Will gen 8 consoles have 50 car trains like on SPG or 40 car trains only like on SMH?

And if the answer is 40 car trains and the reason is the better and much more ressources needed physics, what is next for gen 8 consoles? Northamerican mainline freight trains with 20 cars?

I know it's rare, but I've seen most examples of this with NS and even with new mainline engines. If it was in the game, I wouldn't expect it to be every other service, but maybe 1 mainline run and 1 on the branch. It would definitely add to the gameplay.

According to the latest article about the Curve, apparently the ES44AC shared the similar MFD with AC4400CW which already present in the game. The original Sand Patch Grade AC4400CW had working distance counters as far as i concerned. But well, let's see on todays preview streams (already Thursday morning at my region, cheers).

Fairly badly given the extremely bad view, but they do it when needed. That's why NS still puts ditch lights on the back of mainline diesels.

It's rare and more often happens on some special trains, but it happens. When for example CSX needs to do that, they have to throw magnetic LED ditch lights on the back as they don't have them equipped from the start.
So yeah - as I said - wouldn't want to see it everywhere, but 1-to 3 services would be a nice added spice.
