It's been thought there wouldn't be a tsw3 anytime in the near future but i think it's more possible,if things keep going the way they already have before... You might ask how...fair enough...Here how... Look at Train Sim World and Train Sim World 2020 which was a upgraded TSW version. What happened when TSW/TSW2020 was getting buried in bugs/technical issues/errors etc. DTG decided ultimately the issues where becoming to overwhelming to be fixed in a timely fashion and decided to cut there losses and move on to Train Sim World 2(Which has been a mixed bag at this point). (But the whole preserved collection deal forced dtg to deal with all the flaws they tried to leave behind) So what happens when they get tired of trying to fix all the old and new flaws again? I tell what "TRAIN SIM WORLD 3"...(Possible?)
Not quite what happened. DTG moved from UE4.16 to UE4.23 as an engine and the differences in the two versions we great enough to require a lot of back end and front end dev work (I believe it was over a year of "main dev team" time), and therefore that meant a lot of cost. So DTG decided to move to a new framework, and only after the community screamed "what about my old DLC" and "how come TSC can use DLC for ten years but TSW can't, I thought this was "the future"?" did the pres crew get brought on and the old routes ported across (actually reworked in several ways, but ported across is easier) Do I think there will be a TSW3. Yes Do I think it's in development, coming soon, worthwhile at this point? No Better to wait fro UE5 to bed in properly and THEN look to moving across, whilst also rebuilding the whole shebang from the signalling and dispatcher system up.
I'm wasn't trying to say it 100% guaranteed there will ever be a TSW3 anytime soon, but as we have seen if dtg had been able to leave TSW/TSW2020 content behind they and there 3rd parties would only have to deal with fixing TSW2 issues(There's no shortage of them),but add on top of that all the content from TSW/TSW2020 and you have more then doubled your small companies already overwhelming workload of issues that need fixing.I just don't see how new content can ever be done better if old content that needs fixing just keeps piling up at it's current rate. The one throne that keeps everything headed in the wrong direction is the testing issuses or more in this case is lack of fully testing dlc,i don't know it just seems if something doesn't change we will either end up with TSW3 or No more TSW in the future. DTG has something special here i only hope they remember that someday. And i'm NOT talking about release it broken, enough of them will still buy it.DTG needs to forget this it's not a good long term business practice...at the very least if they tried to minimizes the problems with each new release that would at least be a start.
I think Sam's said in a few streams that it will come eventually, but its not coming anytime soon, and it's not being worked on.
