I really like the route overall, so not trying to bash here, but: Has anyone gotten the distance counter working in "count down" mode? It seems like no matter which option is chosen in the MFD, it only counts up, which is way less useful. MU/DPU setup- Still figuring it out, but it seems like setup is different on this route compared to SPG/SH- am i crazy? Bigger issue is not having a "change cabs" controller shortcut (I'm on Series X)- walking a mile to the back of the train while the "do you want to give up this service" pops up every 45 seconds is NOT FUN! Why is this STILL not an option??? Not everyone has or wants to use a keyboard- there's no technical reason why every function can't be mapped- just let the user rebind the controls like literally every other game lol. Finally, Please, please, please DTG, do us all a favor and copy Run 8's "Auto MU/DPU, Engine Start, Brake Pipe, EOT" features. It would make playing US Freight 99% less frustrating. Please!!!
I watched Natalie’s stream last night and the impressive British Ace’s coverage and the route looks amazing. Decided not to take advantage of the pre-release offer but will definitely buy this at some point in the future.
Disintergration7, I found, after trial and error, that the setup is correct in the game. I played around with the trailing unit and DPU setting and the end result was less then stellar. I went back and just trusted the game setup and it worked without problems. I see you have found my post in the other thread. Worked great for me.
We still dont have a correct helper sets. Helper units are a must on the horseshoe curve and it just makes no sense not to have any. I would like to have SD40Es or an ACU, but if we did we would probably just get a reused SD40 Model. Still is better than nothing.
In one of the threads, I seem to remember that this was brought up and shot down, since it would only work if it was a head end helper and most on the curve are rear. So you would attach yourself and, either, take over the lead unit to drive or let the AI do it and go along for the ride. I agree that some AI helper units going back and forth on the hill would add traffic. In 2019, the SD40E was still the predominate unit with the ACUs just starting to show up.
I can get the distance counter to count down only if I cycle through the options at least once. The default is count down, but it won’t count down if you take the default. In my experience, you have to click through the options until you get to count down again and then accept it.
What units is the distance counter iin btw? I assumed feet, but when I put in 05200 for roughly a mile long train it starts counting down from something like 14,000
Interestingly, you have to enter the train length in yards and then it counts down in feet! This quirk is also present in the SPG 44 counter.
Thanks for all the info. Will give it a try next time i get to play. I'm no developer, but mayyyyybe some of this could have been covered in the "long trains" tutorial where the player is sitting around for 20 mins doing nothing while the brakes charge...
