On 55K inbound to Cresson (grain) the rear locomotives do not provide power even with banking comms switched on
I had the same issue on xbox series x. Distribution was turned on... but I maxed 15 up the hill and got passed by gp38-2. Also the engine sounds are horrible like a helicopter engine about to die.
I have had the same thought, inculding researching the "how to set up multiple unit"-sheets to try again after work. But reading this morning I'm obviously not alone with this I'm on PC (Steam)
The ES44AC tutorial simply says to turn the control switch off on trailing locos and set brakes to trail/cutout. On the 55K inbound to Cresson service, I struggle to get over 14mph (that's with 4xES44ACs) I know the gradient is around 1.8%, but something is seriously wrong here.....
So far every scenario is either majorly glitched or doesn't work... I've officially tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck
One thing to remember with the game is that the AI trains are using a very simplified physics vs the player and all AI trains basically just run at the speed limit regardless of power or weight. So you are struggling because you are getting real physics but that AI GP38 just chugs along at whatever top speed for it is set at. I think if every AI train was using the same physics as the player the game would struggle to run.
I read somewhere at these forums you need to turn banking comm on as the very first setup step, otherwise it is not working properly. Not sure if this is a to considered a bug, but you can try this.
I tried Sharon E 's workaround (activate BankingCom first, set up lead loco, keep other locos untouched) and it helped a lot
