I found this to be highly informative and well explained, showing that airbrakes are anything but trivial.

Snowploughs out for a test at Tonbridge.

Commentary points out that TPWS is disabled as the driver sits in the cab of the second locomotive: otherwise the equipment in the second loco would react to the light newly turned red by the first loco entering the next section.

Some disappointing news out of the YouTube Railfan community this morning. Longtime content creator CoasterFan2105 has been demonetized and will no longer be posting videos until further notice. Quite sad seeing as this guy has been the gold standard for North American railfan content for nearly the last decade.

That's too bad hopefully he can win his fight against Youtube and get back to posting content.

Well, I was a different type of trackside yesterday as I was in Fontana, CA for a Nascar race. However, on the way into the track I managed to snap a couple of pics of some old Santa Fe diesels still in their Bluebonnet scheme on a nearby railroad siding. (I didn't get any pics but there was a lot of Metrolink traffic and some BSNF freight switching going on throughout the afternoon as well)

The paint used by Santa Fe must be hard wearing - at least 26 years old!

I just posted this in Train Sim World but thought I should also post it here since not everyone uses both sims.

So, while I was out this morning my aunt stopped by and left this for me. It's the engineer union contract/rule book for UP's Los Angeles Division circa 1943. I have no clue where she got it, but inside it also contains a number of delay report slips and an official letter of retirement for whoever used to own it.

Edit: After going through it some more, I even found some old train orders buried between the pages!

The below appeared on my YouTube recommendations page yesterday or the day before. I've watched it five or six times now. Narrated in what I assume is French, which I don't speak, it delivers its message loud and clear. I see it as a relatively short, 13.5 min, salute to the 'romance' of steam locomotives/railroading.

If, like me, you can't see embedded video here, this is the link: La 231 D 735 - old SNCF steam loco footage, upascaled to HD

Spent some time trackside yesterday afternoon, and decided to combine the footage I got with some stuff that I took back in January. I'm really happy with how a lot of these shots turned out!

As we all know there have been 3 days of rail strikes this week in the UK.
On Saturday morning something very interesting happened at York railway station.
Due to the line between Doncaster and Leeds being closed from Friday evening and into Saturday because of a tree blocking the line and damaging OHLE, LNER had to divert some of their services to York. This lead to 3, yes 3, class 91 and IC225 sets being stabled at York overnight.
On Saturday morning, these sets needed to be moved to Neville Hill TMD in Leeds but due to the line being unavailable for electric use between Wakefield and Doncaster, these sets had to be dragged from York to Leeds via Church Fenton and Garforth.
Chosen for the task was DRS locomotive 37425 'Sir Robert McAlpine/Concrete Bob' which had been based at the parcel sidings in York for a while.
Railcam UK has various live railway cameras throughout the UK (some available for free on YouTube such as York and Crewe) and has put together a video showing this event.
Myself and some regulars from the York cam YouTube chat were glued to the screen for several hours just watching what happened.

It was stupid cost cutting that omitted the electrification of that link in the first place. If the link were there it would give LNER more flexibility with their trainsets and allow Trans Pennine’s 802s to run electric between Leeds and York. West Yorkshire Metro emu services Doncaster to Leeds could be extended to York. It will cost triple to put in the link now.

I believe they are actually electrifying the route between York and Leeds now and work has started from Colton Junction.

And lo and behold a scenario of these movements is already available on ATS.

Personally I think it's worse, the shield logo on the front is oversized and the flag looks out of place, should of went back to the scheme before the "Building America" scheme or kept doing the "Flagless" repaints.

    EDIT: Photos added.

Took a ride on the Chemin de fer de la Vallée de l’Aa in Northeast France today, and was rather surprised to find my loco an ex-Polish Kriegslok (a BR 52 in Germany)! I was rather pleased, since I took a journey on the Sauschwänzlebahn (the heritage section of the Wutachtalbahn in the Black Forest) a few weeks back and was rather disappointed to have caught them on a diesel running day (although the V36 was appreciated) and to see no German Dampflok, so imagine my surprise to find one near the English Channel! There was also an SNCF BB 63000 on the rear, nice little bonus.

    Very nice photos!
In Argentina we have some of those G26 that were bought second hand from Croatia:
this one is from Ferrosur Roca, a freight operator of the southern network, at Gorchs, Buenos Aires province.
Here another unit with a long distance train leaving Buenos Aires' Retiro Station
    [IMG]
And here the same unit with its previous scheme of a former commuter operator in Buenos Aires, just-arrived freshly painted.
I took the pictures from internet, credits to Ricardo Tieso, Transporte Argentino and Nicolás Mentrasti.
