Like the new German route, I guess it's too early to be a steam route either. Any guesses? Personally, I'm hoping it's finally a new historic/fallen flag route.
There's little to go on - maybe they will explore into a new area like Florida, or Colorado. Either way it will have to be good to drag me away from Run 8, so far as US railroading is concerned.
Probably another Freight route set in the Midwest, will be slopy. Likely, will use the locos from Clinchfield with one new loco, probably an Alco.
My bet is on more NEC since Brandon confirmed that he’s working on a big project for TSW. Edit: This information is false. See here.
Probably something from BNSF territories since now DTG hold the global license to sold it all around the world without de-branding the BNSF stuff? Cajon Pass? Tehachapi Pass?
It is possible. But the last DTG release was Harlem which is NA passenger-ish. So my money is on Freight. Skyhook did the HSC
I bet it’s going to be a BNSF route. They got that shiny new BNSF license, so surely the team would eagerly be working on finally putting those lovely orange trains into the game. Tehachapi Pass seems like a realistic choice. It could be different enough from the TSC version, having more of a focus on BNSF instead of Union Pacific*. Perhaps an entirely new area is possible, too. Some sort of west coast passenger route would be awesome. *Edit: I realized shortly after this that Tehachapi Pass is mainly a Union Pacific route, with BNSF having trackage rights. Silly me. It's still a reasonable choice for a BNSF debut, but I realized that maybe DTG would want to take a break from UP, after Cane Creek and Sherman Hill's releases. I avoided saying anything about the Pacific Northwest because it felt a bit biased, with me being in that area. Give me Marias Pass. Or Stevens Pass. Maybe there's something that isn't in Train Sim Classic! I'm not knowledgeable enough!
Not sure how you can do that, BNSFs only yard is in Bakersfield, Mojaves yard is owned by UP. And I don't know how much of the local traffic in Bakersfield is split between BNSF, UP, and the SJVR. I feel like Cajon would be a better route to debut BNSF on.
My guess would be its either a bnsf route or the first steam route for the us. I dont think harlem was "rushed", but its not really interesting to me because it represents just 50% of the electrified section. Welcome and day 1 purchais if there would be an extension, so i can buy the other section to southeast to have a fun experience with a complete route. But dtg does not extend, so i question the route choice in the first place.
Probably NJ Transit NJCL or an unique one the Raritan Valley Line 12 mi 20 km is on the NEC Newark,NJ to New Rochelle,NY section which is Newark Penn to NY Penn via Secaucus Junction
I would like to see Tehachapi (with services on BNSF and UP) or Cajon for freight. For passenger the new surfliner that goes along the coast in California would be cool. I'm pretty sure that's the new Amtrak diesel that will soon replaced the P42
Yes the Charger series is replacing Amtrak's veteran P40 and P42 fleet. State supported routes such as the Surfliner will/are be using the SC-44 version while Amtrak's long distance routes will/are be powered by the ALC-42 version.
How can you decide a route is boring just because it's American? We've got rapid transit commuter lines - Harlem Longer distance commuter and high speed lines - Boston Slow technical heavy freight up and down steep gradients- Sherman Hill, HSC Shunting - SPG, Clinchfield US routes are so varied (probably more varied than UK & German) that until we know some details it's impossible to know if it to our individual tastes and preferences or not.
I think that will be the route Amtrak with amtrak superliner and Amtrak diesel P42DC Or it could be a pacific surfliner.
Fine. Since people are speculating a BNSF on either Cajon Pass or Tehachapi Pass, then I might as well better see them on an earlier era like the late 90's or somewhere in the 2000s. That would be a lot better then being another modern. (Plus a good opportunity to bring in a Dash 9 at this time range, eh?)
I’m thinking it might be a commuter rail line located in the northeast like Connecticut shoreline east or the MBta commuter rail line route from Worcester/Framingham.
Given that the last DTG US was freight I'm going to guess it will be commuter. Maybe the North West or West Coast to mix things up. Personally I'd like to see the San Diego Coaster system replicated as it's a decent timetable and the possibility of night time freight services running over the line.
So it was in my head Sherman Hill came after Harlem! Well scrape that logic!! I know why I made the error, its because SH was unplayable until the FPS fix came out which was after Harlem.
That "big project" is actually on TS1. Sorry if I mislead people. When I said "the game", I meant Train Simulator in general. I get hired for all sorts of stuff (Tehachapi Pass in TS1 for instance), so don't assume all my involvement with the TS franchise is in the NEC
aNoThEr uK/dB rOuTe, hOw boring! Remember that different people have different tastes, just because you fine something boring, doesn't mean it's boring for other people.
Thanks to the correction to my post, I'll join the choir and say something with BNSF. Getting the (worldwide) license was such a hassle over so many years that I imagine DTG will want to capitalize on it as soon as possible.
Praying for my local train the Pacific Surfliner. Would honestly be cool with anything. LA-Oceanside, Oceanside-San Diego, or something else idc. Just give me something from LA-SD. I would also be cool with the north line, although it is a lot slower and less practical. Still has great scenery though :fingerscrossed:
I have also suggested this and have seen it mentioned at least two other times as well. So there's some interest. The route is so scenic, and with varied services, so who knows?
Matt did misspeak a couple of roadmap streams ago and mentioned Pacific Surfliner when discussing upcoming content so there is a possibility. Of course, this would be my number one choice for the new U.S. route as well and while I'd love for the whole 350 mile route, I'll gladly settle for the LA-SD portion.
135mi 220 km 60 mi 100 km more than Sherman Hill. Spoiler: DTG is a UK Company therefore direct km to mi conversions are favoured 100km is usually converted to 62mi unlike USA Canada
I still feel like without Coaster or Metrolink branding, the Pacific Surfliner route will lose much of its traffic, since there are only 20 total Amtrak Pacific Surfliner Services, on top of the BNSF services between the Alameda Corridor/Hobart Yard and the junction at Fullerton. Metrolink at least between LAUPT and Fullerton would add about 34 Services from Metrolink's Perris Valley Line and the Orange County Line, with 16 additional services from the Inline Empire/Orange County Line if the route was extended to at least Orange or more further south.
Well if DTG actually goes for it, I'm sure they'd try again to get licenses from the SCRRA and NCTD for the Metrolink and Coaster names and liveries. Maybe Amtrak could help DTG's case with Metrolink since Amtrak operates Metrolink under contract. Who knows, maybe they'll change their minds like BNSF did after all these years.
I don't think BNSF was a case of a mind change, just a long standing issue that took forever to get resolved (Remember that the BNSF license was still available on TSC in the USA only all those years). But really only BNSF and DTG know the answer to that question.
I'd be okay with that, there are many routes I'd like to see from Train Simulator. I doubt they would make another Metro North route soon after Harlem though?
One of the highlights of the Arosa Line for me was when you drive through the streets of Chur with passenger cars, so something like that would be nice to see in other routes too.
The problem with Tehachapi and Cajon to some extent is that it's been done to death. If you own the Run 8 version in particular, there's really nothing new to see.
to some extend i kinda agree with your argument, but that doesn't mean DTG cannot create their own version of both route. Run 8 with no doubt got better train handling and physic, but for me it cannot beat the awesome & outstanding graphics from the TSW2.
