Just started with Sand patch, after playing with LIRR and Boston for some months. Apparently in both the Turntable and Yard Switching tutorials, the brake don't work, so you can't complete them. I apply brakes, reservoir pressures change, but nothing goes to the brake cylinders and the loco won't stop.
Hi Mike, The problem appears to be that the MU-2A valve is not set to "Lead or Dead" by default. Therefore, you won't be in control of the brakes from this cab. Set this as shown when you are asked to setup the rest of the cab and you shouldn't have any problems. This is also covered starting on page 17 of the Quick Start Guide: https://storage.googleapis.com/medi.../Train Sim World 2 - Quick Start Guide EN.pdf
A lot of the time scenarios or timetable services will start with one or more locos not completely configured. This can extend from something as simple as the lead loco needing its valves set up correctly and perhaps banking comms turned on, to one loco in the consist having its brakes erroneously set to full application at the extreme other end of the scale.
Thanks for that reminder. I thought I tried all the switch combinations including the lead, which I actually knew about. Apparently not, and setting that fixed the issue.
sorry to stray a bit off topic but so far no one has provided me with an actual answer to my specific question, or rather set of questions... I am playing MP36PH-3C aka Baby Bullet on Peninsula Corridor... it usually does its services in a push-pull config... besides other things when doing setup, there is an MU-2A Valve switch located under the engineer's desk... it has two settings - Trail 24 or 26 and Lead or dead... I know that the settings I should follow are Lead or dead if driving the MP36PH loco cab, and Trail 24 or 26 if driving the Bi-Level Cab Car the thing is, what happened was me having done all the setup, driving off and in between some stations I decided to have a view from outside the cab and accidentally browsed under the engineer's desk, which is when I remembered that I had forgotten to change the MU-2A setting, so it was on Trail 24 or 26... I havent noticed anything unusual otherwise, acceleration was just fine and all braking looked ok as well, no issues so... I know the RECOMMENDED settings for driving in either direction, BUT... why the MU-2A setting didnt affect the driving/starting at all? is the MU-2A setting even relevant if one drives in push-pull with single loco+cab car? or is that switch only relevant if the consist has two or more actual locos? or... I dont know... should the MU-2A setting do anything in just push-pull (1 loco + coaches + cab car) configuration? or is there a difference between IRL and actual implementation (like we know PTC breakers/switches are mostly just cosmetic to get points in newer routes) please dont be shy and let the explanation be even long if it helps me to understand this specific thing thank you or anyone else who FINALLY answers this, cos it isnt mentioned AT ALL even in YouTube videos that usually go more in-depth about the initial setup and such
