What about the Amtrak Downeaster with the MBta commuter rail from Haverhill/Lowell for the Boston sprinter.
If that was a factor DTG considered when making a route then why make Sherman Hill or Horseshoe Curve? Neither are original concepts for a train simulator, most have some version of them, I know with the latter there was in fact two versions made for MSTS alone.
The basic issue was that somewhere in the Burlington-Santa Fe merger that created BNSF, the IP rights for North America and the IP rights for the rest of the world wound up owned by two different corporate entities.
Indeed and no doubt some will buy them if made for TSW. The point about Run 8 though being you are not just limited to a run from Bakersfield to Mojave. You do Tehachapi as part of a longer haul from Fresno or LA through to Seligman if you own all the route modules, or you can run a local, go out to Trona from Mojave etc.
Only difference with Horseshoe Curve in TS is that it's set in the PRR era and the line being 4 tracks. It was nice to see a modern adaptation of the route.
This issue was solved by traveling as vpn passenger . Had a steam adress in pasadena for 2 weeks until i bought all bnsf dlcs. Works totally fine, since this is just a law about purchaising. This was in 2017.
I think that's like saying Nurburgring Nordschleife has been done to death in racing games, so there's no point in putting it in racing games anymore. For comparison, how many people that play TSW have played Run 8, or even Train Sim? I bet it's not done to death for them.
How about some Amtrak love by doing the superb LA San Diego (Pacific Surfliner) or Miami - Palm Beach, or any other Amtrak route that features the fantastic P42 locomotive.
I suspect most people interested in train simulation have dabbled in them all, I certainly have, and anyone with more than a passing interest in American stuff is bound to have tried Run 8. I’m certainly not suggesting Tehachapi shouldn’t come to TSW at some point, just that I personally think it’s a bit of a cliche - similar to Settle & Carlisle for the UK perhaps.
You assume too much. For example, I don't have Run 8, so I guess I only have a "passing interest" in American railroads then. And like I said before, Run 8 and Train Sim aren't available on the consoles either.
Time to explore what you’re missing out on then! A fascinating adventure awaits… after a while you don’t even notice the MSTS level graphics but everything else is great. And yes highly unlikely Run 8 will go on the consoles and I’m the first to admit the game would be much easier if it was sold and distributed on Steam.
I was not very curious about US rail at start. There is so much to explore in UK and Germany. Still, i swithched to TS and I have really a lot of pleasure with US routes, be they long freight routes (like merged Marias pass with Hi-Line 260 miles of chilling pleasure), or NY multiple passenger lines.. So im really curious about next US route ont TSW, hope it may be a bustling passager services as TSW size of routes feels a little short for my long freight love...
I'm not familiar with southern trains but wouldn't a New Orleans line over the Lake Pontchartrain Bridge look awesome in TSW?
Look awesome, but the route doesn't seem practical. Norfolk Southern is the operator on that line, but outside of New Orleans, there isn't much in terms of industry out across the lake. Amtraks Crescent does use this line, but the 2 stops away from New Orleans (Slidell and Picayune) are both Flagstops....
There is also the Lucin Cutoff over the Great Salt Lake. But it has the same issues as the Lake Pontchartrain one, there is literally nothing out there to make a route out of it. It is also the reason the Lake is 2 different colors.
Some great shots there. Thank you. Given Dtg’s expertise with water textures I won’t hold out to much hope.
It's sad when you compare that Amtrak train to the Southern train. The Amtrak train doesn't even have a diner serving sub-par airline food on disposable plastic plates.
