So am starting to get interest in getting my hands on a PS5 this summer if I have a opportunity. Just wondering for those who play PS4 Version of TSW 2 on PS5. How's the experience and have you noticed any difference?

Just to clarify: These points apply to the PS5 version of TSW2, not to the PS4 version on PS5 as the OP inquires.

The main thing I noticed for ps4 version on ps5 was how smooth everything was, and the 4K. Stutters we’re not so noticeable.
That was back before the ps5 version arrived so whether it has changed since then I do not know.

Certainly I find the ps5 version because of the heavier textures it uses has stutters akin to the pc version but still much better than playing on ps4.

AFAIK the ps4 version on a ps5 doesn’t have the 64gig DLC problem. Someone can correct me if I am wrong there.

Yes, you're fully correct. I'll remove my post to not make confusion, appologies to anyone if I made already.
So, for PS4 version played on PS5, I think the only differences are:
    • Game resolution: 3840×2160p (4K)
    • Frame rate: 60 FPS
    • Texture resolution: full texture quality / size

Am assuming for the PS5 version you can't transfer anything from the PS4. Like liveries and other data from the cloud?

Yes you lose everything, when I transferred to the PS5 version I lost everything, my levels, my one livery etc.

Wow that sucks. I wonder why they did it like that.

Because as far as Sony is concerned the DLC are different, one being a PS4 version the other being PS5. Because the content references are different the saves won't just transfer. On other platforms (xbox and PC) they don't have this issue or they have a mechanism to transfer so it doesn't apply. One of the quirks of PS it seems

The 64GB DLC limit and the fact that you cannot transfer your profile (and liveries, medals, route tasks comleted, routes and trains statistics) from PS4 to PS5 version of TSW2 holds me back from switching to PS5.
Well, that and the poor availability of PS5 itself.

Of course one may decide to run PS4 version of TSW2 on PS5, but for me the benefits of this are not justyfing the amount of money I would have to pay for PS5.

If I would not mind to start TSW2 for the scratch, I would choose XBOX series X, which do not have above issues, but on the other hand has some serious issue with sound mixing, also quite hard to be fixed, as DTG stated in one of their latest roadmap.

In summary, it seems that TSW2 is currently not quite ready for latest generation of consoles.
Although at least in case of PS5 issues - those might be irrelevant to new players of TSW2 on PS5.

Don't forget that you'd need to buy everything again.

This, I can't agree with. I've been playing the PS5 version since release and it runs beautifully. Never had any issues with crashing and the game looks beautiful with the better textures and bigger draw distance. As far as the 64GB limit is concerned, that's more in Sony's ballpark anyways and even if DTG had spotted the problem when the documentation was sent to them, the current rate of progress shows that they couldn't have fixed Sony's marvellous decision in time anyways. It's unfortunate and really annoying/frustrating but I'd choose the PS5 version over the PS4 version any day - especially with a fix for the limit inching closer.

Well, in case of PS5 - if someone don't mind starting the game from the scratch, nor have to many DLCs or does, but do not mind to juggle them installing/uninstalling to suits his/her current needs - then yes, he/she will definitely benefit from switching to PS5 version.

But for me, personally, if I cannot go to the store and buy PS5 just like any other electronic stuff, but seems to be I have to be a member of some "elite club" to be able to buy it, plus I will loose all my humble, but still achieved, progress - then I'll pass, at least for now.

With time DTG will most likely overcome current next gen related issues and also most likely PS5 will become available to common people ;), and then I will decide if I will switch to it.

In comparison to PS4 version I agree. But in comparison to any other games being created for 9th gen - not so much.
Although I think DTG "squeeze" TSW2 for 8th gen consoles to make it run decently (and they succeeded IMO) while 9th gen has actually the required calculation power to handle TSW2 in the way DTG aimed to, so I do not expect it to have all the graphical features that I'm expecting from a games being created straight for 9th gen.

Am playing the PS5 version right now and they are right. It's actually way better and smoother then I expected. I have both versions downloaded just to compare. Am leaning towards PS5 just sad I won't be able to use my hard worked liveries and scenarios. The only thing that's bugging me. Don't care about starting over with the rest of the stuff. But I think I will stay with PS4 version until the 64 DLC limit is fixed then i will make the move over and just bounce between both versions in the meantime.
