Mark Felton did a nice youtube presentation on the German Kriegslok war locomotives. Against all odds, these locomotives which were built as temporary use during the wartime period outlived their life and will do so for 100 or so more years. Can't beat German quality steel folks! So we need to "fully" preserve them, in your Train Sim. Interesting German "throw away engines" designed to last 10 years are still in service. Imagine the quality built into the "not throw away" engines.

See their whereabouts here, we'll have to probably pick a country from here that has them active and go from there:

Additionally, I would also like to see is a replication of this, located near Poland's border, the remains of the complete WW2 Reichsbahn fleet that survived the war are rusting away on an old and forgotten train station. Some of them survived in an amazing condition in a locomotive shed while others are exposed to the elements. So this map won't involve driving any trains but rather exploring the area and the rusted up hulk and some are under the shelter so they are much better looking (basically means you still have to put a ton of effort in every detail, but you don't have to worry about making the operational fully) This map is all about getting up close and personal, you can play around with the switches but it won't run at all.

There's also the Kriegselok KEL 1 DB BR144 KEL 2 DB BR194 the Krokodil which has enough tractive force enough to run RRO Ennepetal DCZ Floha Main Spessart Bahn Laufach Heigenbrucken. Locomotive in the video is a DB BR 052 matching route Koblenz Trier Moselstrecke pre 1974 electrification or Ruhr-Sieg Süd Finnentrop Siegen where it meets Köln Siegen Line

This is not what TSW or any train simulator is for. Players want to drive trains and take part in the operations of a living working railway system not walk around old relics that they can only look at. For that experience they can either visit the place or look at pictures and videos of the real thing. Aside from that, nobody is going to make detailed models of a large number of broken locomotives all in different states of preservation or decay, it’s just too much work for very little reward.

What I learned over 10 year period is that not everyone has the luxury to explore locations where old relics that they can only look at. It's probably such a eerie feeling. So TSW2 can offer everyone the ability to be there virtually. There could be alot of reward, you don't know that. I can't just go to Poland and wonder around that graveyard. I can't afford to plus other issues prevent me.

It doesn’t change the fact that TSW isn’t for that. It’s not a sightseeing simulator, it’s for driving trains, even if it would be interesting to be able to wander around the area in game. It won’t ever be made because of the amount of work it would require for the numerous loco models and even if it was made it wouldn’t come close to experiencing it for real. Videos and photos come closer to that because they show the actual trains and they already exist. The fact that many people don’t have the opportunity to travel to see it for real doesn’t really come into it, it’s not what TSW is for.

The route from the first video would be perfect, giving many operation opportunities.
