I know how to take them, and I know that there are several ways of taking them... F12, Ctrl-S etc.... but when I use F12, I get two versions. One, is the usual compressed JPEG that goes into the default screenshot folder as normal as a file of around 600K. I also however, have a uncompressed PNG file that goes into a folder I've set up on another drive. These are around 5MB and are obviously better. My question is... how did I do this? It's something I obviously did ages ago, and I can't remember for the life of me how I set this up. I am not referring to the Ctrl+S way of doing things... this happens when I F12.

    Is it this?
    1. Go to Steam > Settings > In-Game
    2. In the "When a screenshot is taken" section select "Save an uncompressed copy"

Yes.. that's it. Thank you. It was driving me nuts. Didn't think of checking Steam itself. :)
