Good morning colleagues, we are a week before the release of Spirit of Steam, will we have significant updates this week? We have been without significant updates for a LONG time in our dear simulator, I hope they come this week, because we really need it!
There should be some updates but we don’t yet know what they are. It was mentioned in a live stream that updates would accompany the release of SoS. I won’t try to guess how significant they will be but there are some updates.
yes, I hope there will be significant updates, and they will come this week, in the worst case scenario, they will only come next week...
Matt explained that, given a big core update to accompany SoS, they wanted to test all the pending Preserved Crew updates with the new core to make sure nothing breaks. That's why they have been held up.
There is currently a patch planned for early next week (before SoS launches). Final build is still to be confirmed - the Patch Notes will contain all the details of what we can safely squeeze in, but we've been testing Pres Crew releases for Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr, Ruhr Sieg Nord, and Rapid Transit with our beta communities.
perfect, waiting for this mega update next week, I hope the results are encouraging, I wanted to be part of this beta team there hahaha
Good morning everyone. I would like to know when the Spirit of Steam pre-release updates with various fixes will be available, hopefully soon and they won't let us down...
Live here. A long list of stuff, covering core updates, 3 Pres Crew routes, and some other miscellaneous fixes.
Good morning JD, thanks for the clarification, at least I'm satisfied with what was corrected, especially the LBN scenario, but still waiting for urgent corrections that need to be made in N Dresden and in the sounds of the London Commuter cabin.
Looks like a lot of improvements across the board. Unfortunately Harlem Line still has the same problems that have plagued it since launch, namely AI trains blocking routes and making those routes unplayable.
Also, it seems that the forums went down for a while after the update. Working now though, tried other websites all working normally. Wondering if DTG are aware and urgently investigating
I've been playing TSW since the beginning, "downtime" has NEVER happened as far as I recall. Would this occur after every update, or would it not be a good idea to let us know when/if this is scheduled to take place in the future?
Some services were fixed in the most recent update. It was more of a core fix to every route dealing with red lights and pathing but there have been improvements
Yes I noticed. I went back and tried the services most worked . Others seemed to be the time the services spawns in that it doesn’t like so what I do just spawn in on foot like 5 minutes behind and it works. I did a spawn in with the PC steam version at 0445am and ran to 4pm with no stuck trains. I’m glad because I believe the Harlem line is the best US passenger route and hopefully it gets an extension with some diesel and M8 trains…..
Choo Choo, all aboard the bug train, stopping at broken promises, let-down central, same old same old & will they ever learn parkway.
The silence is becoming almost deafening from DTG. There were promises of openness and there was lots of interaction for a while especially from Sam responding to questions and comments. Now you very rarely see a post from anyone at DTG unless it's another post advertising the latest DLC for sale. Even the what used to be nightly streams on YouTube have dropped off and the only content that has been put on there recently are adverts. It's got to a point where I'm even missing Nat and her almost constant threats of closing threads down!
I appreciate that Sam has moved on, my point is that since him doing so, things have on the whole gone pretty quiet. There is very little interaction from the others, nowhere near the level Sam provided, other than predominantly to post up the latest advert for the next forthcoming release.
Yup, other than "we've got this coming soon" we get very little nowadays and it's not likely to change much from what I've seen
It’s no secret that the open communication was only followed through with because Sam insisted upon it as a condition of being DTGs’ community manager. Doesn’t come as a surprise that communication deteriorates again with him more or less gone from TSW.
Well if DTG go and use the SoS core engine as the base model for the new steam route, I think I can safely say that it will suffer the same issues as SoS!
To be hearable we must express our concerns outside, me for example rated quite objectively all owned routes on MSstore.
What I also find bizarre is when they actually do respond, they usually cherry-pick some specific comment rather than addressing the larger topic of a given thread.
As per my previous post, you know this how? If it is purely based on something DTG have said they are doing, from experience, I would wait until you actually see some improvement for yourself. Alternatively, re wording your response to "Dtg HAVE SAID THEY are also improving the core steam physics" Because, if you have been around these forums and the Railworks, Train Simulator or Train Sim World arena for any length of time, it can't have escaped your notice that what DTG say and do aren't always the same thing. There is no doubting that their intentions are good. However, unfortunately on occasions their intentions outweigh their abilities or capabilities.
Yes, there are some people on the forum whose posts seem to indicate, almost certainly falsely, that they are unofficial spokespersons for DTG. They are simply apologists and their posts require a pinch of salt. Best to only pay attention to official or quoted posts from actual employees, like community managers, to find out exactly what DTG is doing or thinking of doing.
You don't actually know. You have been told that it is the intention of the developers to do it. Until it actually surfaces, unless you are part of the development team or the QA team, you don't know anything.
Just a reminder, every post on this and any other forum should come with "In my opinion" or "I have heard" in front of it. Even half the stuff on here from DTG employees isn't confirmed actuality, hence the "coming soon" we get so often
Yes, that and the use of " we " , purporting to speak for the entire community when expressing a personal opinion, is really annoying.
Yes very true, there are those on both sides of the "glass half full/empty camp" who insist on speaking for everyone. I have expressed feelings and opinions, apparently, of which I have no recollection. I must have done however, according to some of the community spokespersons!
For you... For me I couldn't give two hoots, but you're right in that some people will just have typed people in that sentence back there as if they're the spokesperson for the entire human race, which of course is very unlikely.
