I for one will be getting the dlc(When game pass discount is active). Its been quite a journey I think when steam was announced quite a long time ago and it's finally here. What are your thoughts ?
Haha yeah there maybe few bugs but should be good launch. Wonder if the collectibles will be fully obtainable day 1.
Waiting for Tuesday to grab spirit of steam as early as possible for Xbox Series X I’ve been real impressed by the streams on this release lately, got my day planned to try and spend a lot of time in the route it’s timetable and it’s scernarios
How can you have pre-ordered it? It’s not available to pre-order on Xbox (though heaven knows why anybody would want to anyway).
Not getting it yet. I didn't like driving Stream Trains on Train Sim Classic, so I'm not sure I'm going to like them in TSW2. Besides that, I have little to no interest in the route. I do think DTG have done a good job so far from what I've seen on the streams. So I don't rule it out in the future.
I will probably get it and run the hst, 166, 395 and 150 on it because steam trains isn’t my style i would’ve rather they put The 221 DMU on it with the 175 and 350 or 185 instead of steam
Not sure. I like steam trains but the somewhat basic fireman implementation and the route being somewhat dull (for passenger trains at least) makes me fear I'd get bored after a few runs, and I am more looking forward to getting Harlem on discount and potentially the new German and American routes. I am still curious to try steam as it might be a lot more fun and challenging that what I envisage (can't fully judge something you haven't tried for yourself after all), but I think it will stay on my wishlist at least until I see if/how much the new routes interest me. I also still have to buy HMA because I want the BR420 whenever that gets released... so plenty of stuff to buy and I already have a lot of DLC that I have played less than what I would have liked to. I don't want to buy it and then not touching it after one or two weeks because a new DLC is out.
Almost certainly eventually, but probably not at launch. Like Rod Hull, I think I just prefer the company of an emu.
I was 100% committed in the yes camp. This was going to be the first DLC i bought in ages, then I picked up Horseshoe last week and realised Skyhook have given us a taste of what a busy freight route, with pretty well narrated scenarios and an interesting time table can look like. After seeing no end of empty yards, barely any passengers, loads of area that looked low detail (even on pc, empty areas) I'm so on the fence about it. Honestly, now, I think I'm going to sit on this for a bit and watch the feedback threads, perhaps I'll bite when some more of the preserved things are released or when this becomes a busier looking route.
If you intend to buy it at launch, the pre order lets it have it downloaded in advance so there’s no need to wait for it download, when all u want to do is get into it
I've seen far too many games have day one discounts when anyone who preordered paid full price, to ever consider doing so. Even if I didn't have fibre, a few hours to download it would be no big deal.
I've been unsure almost ever since SOS was announced. I like the idea of driving a steam train but the previews I saw left me a bit "meh". I may pick it up one day when it's on sale.
No. The key thing for me was Rush Hour - or more to the point the length of time it took (or is still taking?) to right the wrongs when adopting a different approach to TSW, so to be placed in a potentially similar situation with steam doesn't exactly fill me with confidence. My other concern is that It does look kind of obvious that a fair amount of visual compromise has been put in place in order to maintain framerates, so (assuming you can) what happens if you put this train on a route that hasn't had any levels of visual compromise?
Anyone know what time release time is for Xbox ? I know before it was 12 am then it switched to around 10am
I am but I'm very sceptical about it. I have money left from a gift card so will give it a go. Just a bit on edge because the last new dlc I purchased BML went down like a lead balloon and we all know how that went! Its a difficult one because I'm a steam fan through and through! And I've been waiting for steam in tsw on console for so long!
My history (PC) is a bit mixed. I wasn’t going to buy Day 1 but the earlier streams convinced me to buy. Watched the Jubilee stream and felt dismayed by all the deficiencies and cancelled my pre-order. Since took a leap of faith after seeing the assurances (which may of course prove empty) that fixing the track sound issue will be getting attention and re preordered. I’ve been playing with the Bossman 8F and Jubilees in TSC and if the translation across to TSW matches the quality we are in for a treat.
I’m going to watch the launch stream again tomorrow. I fear the streams unsold the dlc to me if I’m honest. I may stick with what I have until I’ve cleared up journey mode on few more routes
So you said, but my question was how? I have looked at the Xbox store and, like all other DLCs, it’s not there. BTW, anyone who has Game Pass and isn’t bothered about getting it as soon as it’s released, there will likely be a 10% discount after a day or two.
The route doesn't look great but driving a steam railtour over the Pennines, through Cornwall or down to Brighton should be fun.
I’ll be interested if they let anymore slip tomorrow. I think I’ll likely watch the feedback come through for a bit. I wish it was just busier
Will be getting it but not at launch. Using Microsoft rewards for it but need about a week's worth of points for the £25 voucher. Have already completed the masteries for the route despite it being about 10 hours before release, don't ask how as I have no clue, they were marked as completed when I checked if the Tubeliner Diversion scenario had counted for the TVL level one masteries (it hasn't still and I've done it about half a dozen times)
I suspect that will be what a lot of people will do. Personally I want to thrash the Jubilee out of St Pancras through the HS1 tunnels to Ebbsfleet!
Not for me I'm afraid after London Commuter still not being sorted out on xbox series x. Stuttering along the route and bad frame drops in busy stations stuttering when another train goes by. I stopped playing this route a while ago feel I've wasted money. And now another route its a shame i did love this simulator but not anymore.
The jackhammer sounds are pretty prevalent, I can just about hear it over the Steam engine. Switching cameras doesn't seem to cure it as often as it does on other routes.
Nope, passing for this one. Seen the streams and controlling these loco's is just too complicated for me I'll stick to diesel and electric traction, that's more my cup of tea
That's fair enough! If you are interested, we've made a helpful guide for those afraid to dip their toes in (like me).
