   Is there a way to coast without the safety going off I can’t find how or if you can do it

   Yes, it will be possible to drive without the safety valve going off, but only if you are prepared to switch to "Manual" Firing Mode (This would not be recommended for beginners). Otherwise, the automatic fireman will attempt to keep the boiler at full pressure.
   
   To change firing mode, go to Settings > Game > Steam Firing Mode
