So pointing if there are any preserved numbers show up on this route, there are 3 for the 8F, which are 48151, 48173 & 48305 (The later of which had sounds recorded from for this route) and only 1 for the Jubilee, which is funnily enough 45596 'Bahamas' (and before any says 'Why doesn't it have it's double chimney?', it's because around the time this route is set, it's hadn't recieved it's double chimney yet. That wouldn't be installed until three years later in 1961).
45684 "Jutland" having a well earned breather at Liverpool Lime Street after a non stop run from Crewe.
This is a fun thread - I hope to tick them all off at some point, though I haven’t bought the route yet due to work commitments.
I bought Spirit of Steam yesterday and the first few Jubilee LMS Class locomotives I have driven are: no. 45703 Thunderer (Introduction to Spirit of Steam) no. 45721 Impregnable (Stanier Jubilee Class 6P Introduction)
There is infact: Found here: https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/train-sim-world/articles/article/western-venturer
So an update on this, I have found all of those preserved numbers in game and I have taken an image of each of them prove their existance. 45596 'Bahamas' (Pre double-chimney, which wouldn't be installed until three years later in 1961). 48151 48173 48305 (The engine that DTG recorded the 8F sounds from).
48171, 48139 & 48154 awaiting duties in Edge Hill engine shed 48146 loading with coal before yard duties 48122 light engine to rescue a broken down service 45674 'Duncan' seen while operating a stopping service out of Crewe 45672 'Anson' awaiting the guards whistle at Edge Hill Station on a dark spring morning
45655 'Keith' standing at Liverpool-Lime street Station with a service from Chester 45591 'Udaipur' standing at Crewe station with the first service of the day bound for Chester
Just finished finding every loco number that comes with both the Jubilee's and the 8F's. I did this to not only check that all the numbers listed on the first page exist in game, but I also did this to find out about a certain detail that here I think is just as important as the number on the loco and that is the shed code. For those who don't know what that is, the shed code is a small plate that is located underneath the number and the smokebox door handles on the front of the locomotive, as seen in the example below, with the shed code highlighted. This is to tell which shed that locomotive number is allocated to and this is useful for telling where the Jubilee's and the 8F's on this route are allocated too. From going through all the loco numbers and checking the shed codes, there are two codes that are shown on the various locos on this route. These are: 5A (Which is for Crewe North) 8A (Which is for Edge Hill) I'm not going to bother listing what sheds the 8F's are allocated too, as they are all allocated to Crewe North (5A) from having checked every one. But with the Jubilee's, while the majority of them are allocated to Crewe North (20 of them to be precise), there are also a few of them that are also allocated to Edge Hill (6 of them in question). These, as well as the ones that are allocated to Crewe North, I have listed down below. Jubilee's Allocated to Crewe North (5A) 45553 Canada 45556 Nova Scotia 45586 Mysore 45591 Udaipur 45596 Bahamas 45604 Ceylon 45617 Mauritius 45624 St Helena 45625 Sarawak 45630 Swaziland 45632 Tonga 45643 Rodney 45655 Keith 45674 Duncan 45675 Hardy 45678 De Robeck 45684 Jutland 45703 Thunderer 45721 Impregnable 45726 Vindictive Jubilee's Allocated to Edge Hill (8A) 45567 South Australia 45613 Kenya 45623 Palestine 45672 Anson 45681 Aboukir 45725 Repulse So yeah, I guess something else to look out for on this route, other than the number that's on the loco.
I wonder if there's a way to add more numbers to the list of the 8Fs?. It won't work with the Jubilees, as they'll need new nameplates too.
Jutland pulls the train I just brought from the depot to Liverpool. "My" Kenya will move to the turntable to get ready to pick up the next train.
What I would recommend is just constantly restart the route until 45596 shows up (if you are playing in service mode) as you will get a different number everytime you restart.
48109 on a through freight service from Ditton in the early hours of the morning 45624 "St Helena" standing at Crewe station with the Manxman express waiting for the road 45624 "St Helena" at speed across the Runcorn bridge pulling the Manxman express to Liverpool-Lime street A view from the footplate of 45624 "St Helena" at speed 45625 "Sarawak" standing in the rain at Crewe with the London Euston to Liverpool-Lime street express 45726 "Vindictive" waiting to depart Crewe station with a stopping service bound for Chester 45556 "Nova Scotia" slowly descending the 1.1% grade into Liverpool-Lime street station
48000 Happened when testing a mixed traffic gala scenario on the West Somerset Route. I wish it was a feature to be able to assign specific numbers to locomotives, so the same loco is used in the scenario no matter what. Would've been better if a preserved loco like 48305 was on a preserved railway scenario.
There are some awesome pictures on this thread, I must start taking some screen shots. Yesterday, the first time I fired up SOS since the summer, I took 45567 South Austrailia to frm Lime Street to Edge Hill shed, only to find the same engine on shed! There were enough Jubilees around for more to be represented and reduce the chances of duplicates.
