I had just completed a scenario in the Spirit of Steam dlc, and after stopping the train the entire engine just, and I'm not joking, through it self into the air.
Yeah but if you just came to a stop that will be the cause - a derail due to the unbraked mass of the freight hitting the fully braked loco. It takes time for the mass of the trains behind to transmit their force to the loco which causes this. But yeah - the way the trains derail graphically/physically isn’t right of course …. To avoid it try braking very gently with freight wagons on (or not using the steam brake at all).
I had less the 20% overall braking force, and was under 5mph before a slow, controlled stop. It happened between the words of Objective Complete came on screen, but before the summary could show.
it happened AGAIN, but this time IT WAS THE ENTIRE 21 CAR TRAIN WITH ENGINE. Just stinking "I must go my planet needs me." type BS.
Yep, same thing on PC. Going 5 miles per hour, gently braking just before the objective marker, and the train responds like it's been T-boned in the starboard side. Not convinced this is realistic behaviour.
Most of my train flips have been an 8F running at low speed before quite some breaking, Runcorn being the first place
