The well-done Spirit of Steam Crewe-Liverpool makes the excitment of a German Steam add-on greater.

However, I would like to get a different atmosphere in the German addon.

No huge yards or four-track lines.
Rather a fast single-track line with many smaller stations where shunting can take place. Where some sidings have to be served and we can still run 100 km/h, but also passenger trains tendervoraus with 50 km/h. Manageable traffic, but enough possibilities for gameplay.

    For example, Meißen-Nossen-Döbeln-Borsdorf-(Leipzig) in Saxony.

The gameplay should be more accurate. Bring freight wagons to loading points, not just into any track. My hope is that if the tracks are smaller, you can add more details like an excavator or a ramp.

For example a passenger train from Nossen to Döbeln (about 30 min), then take a goods train and go back to Nossen, shunt there and take coal. A varied scenario with a length of over 60 minutes.

But now for the most important thing, the locomotives:

Class DR 23.10 (35.10) is a good choice for me.

A 1'C1' h2 engine with a top speed of 110 km/h is totally flexible. In front of passenger express trains as well as goods trains.

A special story: as late as the 1980s, locomotive 23 1113 from Nossen hauled express trains between Riesa and Dessau. One of the last steam services in Germany.

Today, 35 1097 is still in service, as many YouTube videos show. Here are some photos from the last years:
    35 1097 numbered as 35 1106 in Nossen:

historic atmosphere in Rosswein. Old road, old barrier , old lamps, old fences, old train

At the same time, the DR 50.35 series would be a suitable freight locomotive that was also used in front of passenger trains. A 1'E h2 engine with a top speed of 80 km/h. It was used everywhere, in the mountains as well as in the lowlands.

50 3648 is still running today, here with a museum train between Meißen and Nossen a few years ago.

By the way, both used to be stationed in Nossen.

It would also be important for me to hear 2 specific sounds on German steam locomotives. The alternator and the air pump, which the 8F and 6P do not have.

But of course there are more lines with these characteristics.

I am very curious to see what awaits us, the first line and locomotives will certainly already be under construction.

Do you share my thoughts on gameplay and track characteristics or what would you like to see?

Excellent Idea and all of these locomotives belong to the Saxon Railway Museum Chemnitz Hilbersdorf which is on Dresden Chemnitz Route Tharandter Rampe. You can also try making a GDR era Mainline Steam locomotive route 122 km 76 mi Berlin Elsterwerda with DR 18 201. Since the 1930s these locomotives are PZB equipped

Yeah, that's right, these locomotives can be used well on Tharandter Rampe and Dresden-Riesa isn't that far.

Got yesterday Tharandter Rampe and its a very nice route.
I saw also the turntables which are functioning so i guess the steam locos are planned for that route.
There are already collectable posters with a steam loco.
The route itself is very nice and detailed (compared to other dlcs) and the steep grades would be also challenging for a steam loco.
Would be great to get some old german steam monsters :)
I am not the youngest anymore a big fan of this beauties.
Ive lived as a child in Poland in the 80s (Jelenia Gora/Hirschberg, not far from Görlitz) and such maschines could be seen daily :)
It was a great experience thats why i love them :)

The Tharandter Rampe route had a Steam festival as of now. They use a DR V60 shunter and the Steam locomotives themselves DR 41 DR 52.80 rekolok. Formation for the railtour is made up of Rekowagen Restaurant 1st & 2nd class carriages and DR Y-Wagen . Can also run with existing DB BR155 (DR BR250) due to the locomotive having a Train Heating button
