I know many state that this run is bugged and Yes - the fact that the plank wagons have their vacuum brakes set should be corrected - but the fact the wagons have so much attention to detail that you can correct the problem is noteworthy.

What I enjoyed about the run was the fact you are pulling a consist of unfitted carriages and the physics are spot on - I realized the fact as I tried to slow down for the 15 mph slip and flew through with just the intention of slowing with full brakes. Since the only braking power was on the locomotive it took about 100 yard past the next stop point to come to rest - forget about making the speed limit for the slip.

Now a new conundrum presented itself - you are on a 1.0% down slope on wet rails - OOPS. First attempt to reverse was meet with a slide through the Signal for a SPAD since releasing the brakes started the forward motion and with slippery rails - I ended up spinning my wheels trying to reverse. While spinning the wheels - forward momentum was increasing to a point all the brakes did was stop the wheels but not the slide since adhesion was broken.

Reloading the last check point - I applied the Hand-brake on the brake van, started sand, released combination (effectively Loco Only since all wagons were non-fitted) brakes - and slowly applied power with and was able to start the slow slog back up the 1.0% slope - once I started moving - released the hand-brake on the brake van and gingerly pushed back to my assigned track to tie-down the consist an d sheepishly walk away.

Great job DTG on this DLC - I have seen some comments on how the brakes are bugged - but really it was just poor driving on my part when pulling an unfitted consist on slippery rails and not planning ahead for speed reductions with very limited braking power.

Would be nice if you could use whistle signals so the brakeman in the brake-van could assist as in actual practice - maybe that is a feature we can hope for in the future.

Thanks for the heads up. I will give this one a go. I did a service and found I derailed I was just under the speed limit of 15mph and was crossing points on a gradient. I re-started the service and stayed under 7mph and all was good. I think you need to drive very carefully as the trains handle differently compared to modern Trains. I just finished my first 8F freight run a small Branch freight Run. I love seeing the wagons bunch up and then slacked out as the wagons move due to various physics forces and gradient influence.

Fully agree here, great run indeed! Though I spent lots of time time running around and figuring out what was wrong with the train brakes and manually pulling the vacuum cords then... But yeah, got much pleasure completing this one! Great job!
