Who else is totally stuck on the gradient in Crewe on the Through Freight: Edge Hill - Nuneaton? I can just about make it to the top before it stops and starts sliding back down the hill. So frustrating!!
I backed down the gradient in the end - far enough to get a decent run up. Sander on (obviously), cylinder cocks closed, front and rear dampers on and just careful management of the reverser and regulator. Keeping the steam chest as close to maximum as possible while maintaining boiler pressure. If you don’t get to a minimum of 12 mph then you probably won’t make it. Took me A LOT of attempts.
