Why are there two instances of the DB BR 143 on the train selection screen on most German routes? Are there differences between them? None of the other locomotives are listed twice.
It's because DTG doesn't bother clarifying on the selection menu what version of the loco you are choosing. Mildly annoying. On PC someone made a mod to add that extra bit of information, but since we are on consoles we don't have that option.
Why did you mention those routes in particular? You might as well say SKA, HRR, RRO and MSB. What makes them different? Their names are identical.
Some of them have updates sounds/features/QOL changes that are exclusives to them. For example: all locos in DRA have a form of smart PZB/SIFA acknowledgment feature, in which by pressing circle, you would only trigger PZB acknowledge if you just passed a 1000hz magnet. On other similar locos, say BR 143 from RSN, pressing circle would push both the SIFA pedal and trigger the PZB acknowledge button, which results in you hearing an unnecessary "beeeeep" every 30 seconds.
Aren’t alternative versions with updated functionalities usually listed under livery selection (press square button)? The BR 143 is actually listed twice as two completely separate entries. That’s the part I find most confusing here, and what makes me question whether there’s any exceptional reason for it.
I'm mentioning them because they are the routes the 143 is included in so it explains why there are two-three different 143's in the service selection screen the DRA and DCZ have different physics then the RSN one
It would just be better to have one updated version of the 143 plopped onto all the routes it runs in instead of having 2 versions of the same train. This design choice makes zero sense
