Obviously you are also lying now because it obviously cant be completed and is totally broken like the rest of the game because redrev says it.
In the context you presented it, yes, it did seem you were using it as a label since it was used in conjunction with FanBoys. If that was not your intent, then it wasn’t clear in your statement. If not your intent, then my apologies.
I completed it after the update. Just for your information. But hey, you seem to be quite well informed on when I do services ingame.
Its the freight service starting at 06:33 am. Dude, I do see that the game has issues. Stop putting things in my mouth I never said. I said, the games has flaws and issues.
I understand what you are saying, but its not the point though is it? You drive all that way get to a mile away from the destination and boom you are told to go via (a marker) 11km's behind you. Oh hold on I'll reverse all the way back to the 11km mark pass it then go forward again. Also hope to god I get green signals all the way. These services need listing and they need to be sorted as soon as possible. That to me is a game breaking bug as you cannot complete the journey. I'm kinda wondering how the AI manages to complete it or does it get stuck? People do have a right to be vocal about stuff that does not get fixed over time and Yes I know that DTG have to try and Triage stuff at the moment, in what gets fixed first.. Hentis
Well your statements suggest that the game has so many severe issues that it can be interpreted as that the whole game is broken. The way you make a fuss out of a minor bug is just unbearable. Regarding that special service: The problem is that the order of markers is slightly swooped up. So normally you would pass the marker near Coswig and then the Marker at Dresden-Mitte but these markers are swapped so you have to pass the marker on Dresden-Mitte before passing the marker at Coswig so that is the cause of the train basically have to go backwards. The AI is fully able to complete that service and so was I since the dispatcher still works and can do organize paths for it. Although if it works for some and doesnt work for some it might be a random thing whether you can complete it or not. The fact is: It is 1 service. if you change it, you basically have to re-simulate the whole timetable. So you are investing a day of work effort and money into fixing 1 service. It is understandable that not completing this special service is disappointing but its not like there are no other services to be completed. And so far it is 1 service out of 461 services that have this issue so far so... making a fuss out of this is a slight overreaction imo.
so, seems to be working for me. I requested from signaller and got a yellow straight away. Assuming this looks like the right location?
No, the actual issue is at Dresden-Mitte. Try to fully complete the service. The slight difference between TVl and this 1 service is a) the amount of services that had to be changed are significantly more than that 1 service. Also, the TVL timetable has a lot less traffic. So a re-simulation of that timetable wouldnt be that costly compared to re-simulating the DRA timetable. Also you can just roll back a timetable that relies on track data, timings etc. You NEED to re-simulate it to ensure it works even if you "only" change formations. And even that can have big impacts.
I think one answer to this is ... please release a route editor - I think if the public released their own routes a lot of attention would be drawn away from the issues described above and we would be discussing the excellent routes/locos developed by the community. It's been too long a wait for this, surely it can be done.
Unfitted goods wagons did NOT derail when the loco was already stopped. They had inertia movement between the chain or screw couplings. But nothing like enough movement to cause them to derail.
I think Paul posted an interesting view on that derailing topic so you might have a read on that one. "They did it in a week" Yes, because the community became toxic and yelled at DTG. "How can DTG do something that is entirely realistic? How dare they?" And yes, it did a week, and it would take much longer for the DRA timetable because it is much bigger and fixing 1 service could chaos on all the other.
I'm not sure if your reply was aimed at me or not, but its not just one service. I have had it happen to me on several services. either mixed freight, intermodal or tanks. That service I have already logged myself in the tech forum as its listed in my broken scenarios / services channel in my discord server so yeah that does not work AS intended. As I have mentioned previous I have had 3 or 4 services that originate from Roderau Yard are the ones I have had problems with. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/service-0633-freight-roederau-dresden.54042/ Hentis
I wanted to rewrite my message as my earlier one had a condescending/elitist tone that didn't represent my feelings. So, the reason I believe most bugs are not fixed is because we, (we as in we who take this game a little bit more seriously) do not represent the community at large. There is nothing wrong in playing this game more casually, and everyone is welcome to the hobby for me, but the main point of my post was that the people at DTG know exactly what they are doing and what audience they are trying sell this game to. A few examples: Safety systems and signalling are basic, TPWS and approach control in the uk are a perfect example Bugs related to more advanced systems are often not prioritised. For example the speedometer being inaccurate in the BR182, PZB being unusable for MONTHS on the talent or CSS being completely broken since release in SHM. You can notice this trend even when we don't talk about bugs but completely conscious choices being made by DTG themselves, the most obvious example being the disaster that is Hamburg-Lübeck: A BR112 that looks nothing like a BR112, and without loco brake Wrong Rolling Stock Reskin of at the time a 2 year old loco, with the only thing not being reskinned being wrong (the displays) And THAT mess was among the top 10 seller of 2021. In a game where the bar that any given DLC has to pass is: "you can get from A to B and get a medal" is always going to be bad. I will always refer to this post Until DTG doesn't shift mentality and realises that problems like this the CSS on Sherman Hill or the wrong PZB mode on the talent are (almost) equal to you not being physically able to complete a service, I can't be optimistic about the quality of future DLC. Because if what they are aiming for is "oh, it's not broken you can complete a service" then the reason they didn't fix the BR182 speedo or opening the doors on the wrong side in Hagen becomes obvious.
You will never convince the fanbois about the legitimacy of your point of view. I gave up years ago with fanbois and trainspotters. I was told once a long time back on the N3V forum. That these people didn't need a history lesson. When i pointed out that BR\WR Kings were a no go in sessions, west of Plymouth. Just go with the flow buddy, they always know best. Just like DTG and N3V, always think they know best.
Well, that's not true. For example, since TSW2020 you haven't implemented a single thing that has been the highest priority in 6(?) surveys since then. Since then it has always been: MP, roles and a functioning EBULA system. None of these features were ever implemented. Or, even worse: tested at all and then shelved for the time being. The features mentioned were not yet on the roadmap list. You post polls, then write in the forum, you set priorities, and 4 years later nothing has happened. If you put projects on hold, it's perfectly okay. But as written, these weren't even made into an early alpha. ---- The only thing DTG probably learned now, and only for one console, is to get beta testers. I've written before, it also works for (active) TSW2-PC players - especially for routes where there are 100 24-journeys, so there are no surprises.
Or how is it with this point of view: Accept the fact the people can have different views on a game that people actually enjoy and stop calling these people fanbois. Just because you dont have an enjoyable time, you dont need to be mean to those who enjoy the game.
I think we all need to take a step back for a minute. I don’t think the game is game breaking, to the point where I can’t play it, but at the same time, it isn’t perfect, nor is it acceptable for it to stay like this. The biggest issue I believe lies with QA. It clearly isn’t up to scratch, as players are finding bugs pretty much immediately after playing a service post release/update. An update should not break more things, which were not previously broken. If it does, simply do not release the update. All new DLCs will release with some form of bug(s), however it isn’t acceptable to have to wait 6-12 months for a fix, for that fix to break other things. Talking of new DLCs, they should all have a consistent set of working, fully functional features and safety systems. How on earth are new DLCs still being shipped with broken safety systems? The 377 & 387 on BML have the silent AWS issue, which still hasn’t had a fix released for it. So in summery, we all need to put our pitchforks down and take our rose tinted glasses off and see TSW for what it really is. Whatever your view on TSW is, a change has to happen.
Three pages... We made it three pages before people started hurling slurs and insults at each other. We say that DTG is a joke, but sometimes I feel like we're the real fools.
Why I feel like you didn't read the op's post. You seem to be shrugging some things off as others have pointed out to you
At least I know what to expect from an ambassador. Gotta keep getting that free dlc so say good things and just shrug of criticisms with moot points
Oh hello and welcome to the world of conspiracy. "He doesnt say his real opinion just so can get free DLC". This thread has become a sinkhole. 80% of the people writing in here are just denying the fact that this game can be enjoyed by people. But since they say that TSW is a hell of a bugfest, nobody is able to enjoy it and only fanbois can enjoy the game and these fanbois deliberately lie to get more free DLCs. This is just ridiculous. Honestly.
The use of insulting terms like "fanbois" is unhelpful. Certainly it does nothing to persuade fencesitters to come around to your point of view.
If people have problem with TSW2 then they are always welcome to go get another one. Oh wait, there is not another one. Unfortunately, that's the reality for most of us casual simmers. I honestly can't every go back to TSC after doing TSW2 as the interface and controls are just next level with TSW2. SimRail promised so much but they are not close to release anytime soon. DTG has gotten progressively better since TSW 2020. I had stopped playing TSW1 completely at one point because it was iffy but TSW2 was a remarkable improvement. We still get some dumb bugs but it seems they are focused on making it better by hiring a C-level exec for QA and implementing QA procedures. We are obviously not going to see any improvements soon as they are just ramping up but it will be good long time. I also liked, how they said not to expect anything from them as they focus on fixing the house. I am not giving up on them yet. I have sticked through with them from RailWorks days and will keep betting on them. Hope we get more 3rd parties buying into TSW2 and we get better routes.
Well ambassadors do get dlc's for free. That itself isn't a lie and frankly from what has been said, alot of the criticisms have been shrugged off
Well this thread has been a very unedifying read! I can understand the frustrations as I have gone from having a carefree attitude towards to TSW to using it very little now, much of that is because I find TSC fits my needs much more comprehensively. I have changed my view on an editor, before I would argue it wasn't needed, why do you need it with service mode? However I have totally changed my mind, especially being a rivet counting, borish purist I find I want to make my own scenarios and the scenario planner is pretty useless to be frank. Promising new releases like SOS do seem to be spoilt by bugs, many of which do appear careless. However whilst it has problems I wouldn't say it is as awful as a newcomer reading this thread would garner after reading it. I would say there definitely needs some thought at DTG's offices as to how they can best overcome shooting themselves in the foot with virtually every release. However it is clear TSW is popular so presumably many are managing to enjoy it. I don't think hurling insults and labels at each other, whatever stance you take is helpful. Presumably we are all lovers of trains or at least simulation games and I am sure we all want the same thing, an enjoyable and useable piece of software. I don't think falling out over what is supposed to be a pleasurable pastime is a good outcome.
Regarding this post. I know that there a lot of people at DTG that are passionate about what they do, that passion often managed to "seap through" the otherwise mediocre average of various releases, but almost each of them had some issues that manage to overpower, or somewhat belittle the passion and what's good about it, a few examples: The Class 313 physics are awesome, with the camshaft being brilliantly recreated, allowing for a realistic and accurate driving style and the ability to use some "tricks" that real drivers used -> the motors are comically too powerful, the lights aren't visible unless you are really close to it New timetable for rapid transit -> BR182 and Talent 2 are unusable, only leaving the Cab Car The BRD BR143 has been improved even more -> can't be used on DCZ The art and close scenery on Harlem are amazing -> A lot of services can't be completed Do you want me to go on? I'm not done yet. That's what I (and I'm sure you and the people that work there) find the most frustrating. You are always so close, yet so far. Nice, we got a new BR185.5 which is a lot more realistic with BRD, we can't use it anywhere apart from RRO. Why does it seem like you never go the extra mile to make sure something is as good as it gets, as with everything the devil is in the detail. It seems clear to me that your aim is to get it "good enough" for your average consumer.
Right I have a feeling I am on redrev1917 mute list following a container dispute. That said I have tried the 6:33am freight service on Riesa and it has failed. Interestingly right near the end of the route it states I have 11km left to go. Train on same track. I was here first. Signal 30 ZU525
Despite this thread turning into an utter mess (people need to realise that it is not a personal attack on every player of a certain game to call out issues with said game and its management), I think that the original poster summed up a lot of outstanding issues and community opinion very well. I love TSW2, but it will remain distinct from (and far from a spiritual successor for) Train Simulator until DTG truly commit to unlocking the game's full potential. Spirit of Steam has brought TSW2 back to the front of my mind after a long period of inactivity, but it has also reminded me of all the problems with the game, the release cycle and the management.
I thought that but in fact haven't touched TSW since 27th May which is, what, 10 days ago. I was surprised to find how much pleasure can be got from using TSC - with the right content. And by rights, experiences like the one I described earlier on the Kyle Line should be possible in TSW by now. Not only all the bugs and unfinished stuff but they are still floundering around giving us short, disconnected routes that don't exactly have you going oooh and aaah. Spirit Of Steam, for all its faults I might still have bought it but 35 miles from Crewe to bloody Liverpool... About as uninteresting and dulltastic as you can get.
Im sure dovetail are aware of the issue though. They are probably working on a fix....which will come in another 6 months time. Id love to be wrong though and they fix it during the downtime they have. I do hope that alot of the issues do eventually get sorted in a timely manner during this period. I feel like if they had prevented these issues from the start, threads like these wouldn't be made. DTG have shown that they can make good products but fail to do it at a consistent level in this game. That's the part that sucks to be honest.
I am beginning to think that the blame is less with QA and more with people who don't play through their code before submitting it to QA. A bit of personal responsibility wouldn't go amiss. "Is the game in a better state than it was before you changed that code?" should be on the walls of the office. Waiting for fixes, which either semi-fix it or not even that, and then break something else which was fine, is just maddening. Especially as you waited 6 months or more for the "fix" which now requires another 6 month wait before the "fix" can be fixed. Or at least an attempt can be made to fix it.
Happens also to the afternoon service. See thread below. Apparently one member found a solution in the end. I didn´t try again ... https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...dresden-freiberger-strasse.51508/#post-447746
Appreciate this is evoking a passionate response from you all, but I've seen a lot of unacceptable behaviour towards other players on this thread. I've issued warnings to those who I deem to have overstepped a line, and if the thread continues with this velocity and ill-feeling, I will lock it - which is not what I want to do, as there is some genuinely good discussion in here.
I don't think that's ever gonna happen, not to mention the already steep learning curve that comes with the Unreal, I would assume the whole thing would be an absolute mess to get working without any proper help.
Not to mention licensing. It's not DTG's personal editor. They would have to get permission from Epic to allow users to use their own editor.
The whole game really can be summed up as good intentions which are occasionally met, however budget concerns and lack of polish detract majorly from the experience, and how some bugs have been left in for months or some since release, or how some got past QA is baffling.
I think if they could in the future release a much more comprehensive scenario planner/editor, similar to the one in TSC, it would go a long way. I think being hamstrung as to what consists you can select and having very little choices in terms of beginning and end points as well as the way start times appear to work, all means that what you can achieve is quite basic. It would mean you could, particularly in routes set in times past, ie NTP and TVL make more bespoke and in some cases more accurate formations. It would be even better if there could in the future, be a way of editing or making a complete timetable. I imagine that would be a huge undertaking and likely not possible. Either of the above would get me using TSW a lot more.
Makes me wonder if DTG would be better off ditching Unreal if they were to do another revival, and try and build an in house engine instead. Because the limitations of the editor has also stalled 3rd party developers for TSW.
I think we can all agree that we only want what is best for the sim. Some people may be already satisfied, and I'm honestly glad for them! But it's clear that content-wise, TSW just isn't there yet. And all the complaints spawned in this thread route back to one core concept: "DTG consistently operate on short-term gain, and players want long-term growth." The two are in constant anti-thesis to each other. It's not necessarily a bad thing, DTG need money and assurances... sure. Relatively speaking, TSW is doing pretty well (about 300 average players on steam, but multiply across 4 platforms and it becomes a different story). What is inhibits is overall management and the allowance of "long-term imagination" for ideas that really will evolve the platform. The two biggest revolutionary concepts we had (PIS, Timetables) all came from additional time of the developers themselves. The passion of DTG staff is not in question here. It's the formula that DTG have stuck to for more than a decade, which is presenting the EXACT same issues as TSC (people complaining about rushed routes, sounds, bugs etc.) And this issue will continue. Should the time come for extensions, people are going to question why legacy routes won't connect... and it will be because DTG did not lay the foundation for it immediately. Should the time come for guards and SDO, Adam will have to backport it to 20+ routes. Should UE5 present a future, we'll have to go through the "preservation" update turbulence all over again. Ultimately these smaller issues accumulate into significant problems, that could be solved if DTG spent the initial time crafting a stable platform (like MSFS, X-Plane, Euro Truck Sim). 5 years in, The Train Sim "World" could have had elaborate connections and experiences unrivalled by any train simulator on the market, and people here would be surrendering their wallets to Dovetail.
