I posted this elsewhere, but I think it should be as a separate post because the other one seems to focus more on the many modern routes in TSW2! So, with that in mind I’ve made a new post with my suggestion……!! Now that SoS has been released; there’s clearly a need for animated station staff in period uniform, which would be much in evidence at this period in time; porters, Station Master etc. Particularly when the train is ready to depart, there’s certainly something missing at the moment with this SoS route ! In the real world, the driver is always given the ’right away’ by the guard and the station staff. The guard being at the rear of the train and the station master or a porter standing in line of sight or earshot of the guard and the engine crew. When the R/A has been given the guard would wave a green flag to show that all was in order and that the train was safe/ready to leave, which in turn would be answered by the station staff who would acknowledge the guard by raising an arm; turn towards the front of the train, then blow his whistle, shout ‘right away!’ and again raise his arm to show to the engine crew that all doors were locked and that that they could now depart. An acknowledgment from the engine crew (ie, you the driver) by a short toot of the locomotive’s whistle meant that they understood and could now proceed. The Station Master’s whistle and ’right away’ have been available in an audio format on some TSC trains for a while and certainly enhances the overall departure experience. Bear in mind this was in the days before modern technology, without radio comms or mobile devices; everything was done by real people! If desired this could be activated or not by pressing one or two keys at the players discretion. I don’t think this would be too difficult to implement in TSW2 ! Preferably as visible AI people!! This should have been considered/implemented at the outset. In fact doors on steam era Mark Ones were not even locked in the sense of modern CDL fitted stock, a door would only be physically locked out of use if defectove.
Indeed as you do rightly say old Vern, with these early coaches; all that could be done was to ensure that the doors were shut properly (not actually locked), thank you for highlighting this fact! ChessieT
Just in general I echo we need more rail staff in and out the stations. We’re somewhat work shy in game
Great suggestion, no plans currently to add station staff or guards, if there is any plans it will go on the roadmap.
Thank You for replying to my post Jamie, I’m glad that the DTG staff are taking on board suggestions from the train sim community! Keep up the good work
As chieflongshin says, it’s time to get your roadmap out and start planning right now please! ChessieT
A bit disappointing to hear there are no plans. If TSW is supposed to represent a more interactive railway environment than its predecessors, then adding in this sort of element would go a long way to achieving this.
I am genuinely intrigued what "new" things are coming, not routes, not trains , not preserved, not patched, not creators club v7 etc. What new things are coming?
Wasn't there supposed to be some sort of diorama which added station staff and track workers, which was talked about a while ago on a live stream? Sounds like its just another thing which was said to be coming, but never actually did.
Dioramas as far as I'm aware are confined to the Dresden lighting box. I don't recall seeing much on the neee route
