Hello! Today I will be suggesting the Wairarapa line which runs from Wellington, through the Hutt Valley, through the Rimutaka Mountains before ending at Masterton.

    The Route
The Route is around 91km (56.5 miles), running from Wellington Station to Masterton. It features 3 tunnels, the longest is the Rimutaka tunnel which is 8.8km (5.5 Miles). The route is electrified with 1500 V DC overhead wires from Wellington to Upper Hutt. The Route would also include the 3km (1.9 mile) Melling branch. The Stations on the route are:
    1. Wellington [IMG]

And the stations one the Melling Branch are:
    1. Western Hutt
    2. Melling[IMG]
    Rolling Stock
    • The FP/FT "Matangi" EMU. It was built by Hyundai Rotem and, Mitsui in Changwon, South Korea, from 2008-2010 and 2014-2016 to replace the 72 year old DM/D "English Electric" EMU's and the 28 year old EM/ET "Ganz Mavag" EMU's. They entered service from 2010-2016, and operate on the Hutt Valley line, Johnsonville line, Kāpati line and the Melling branch line. There are currently 83 in service.[IMG]
    • The DFB class locomotive. This Loco was orginaly built as the DF class locomotive by general motors in Canada from 1979-1981. They were rebuilt into DFT's from 1992-1997 by Tranz Rail. From 2006-2007 12 of the class were fitted with the bright star engine mangement, these became the DFB's. In 2016 Kiwirail started fitting more DFT's with the system. Currently there are 21 DFB's in service. The DFB's operate throughout New Zealand on freight and passenger services.[IMG]
    Possible DLC
    • The DL Class Locomotive. This Loco was built by CRRC from 2009-present in Dalian China. They operate freight trains throughout the North Island of New Zealand, replacing older DFB's, DFT's and DX's. There are currently 63 in service with another 10 on order. These would substitute on freight services.[IMG]
    • The DSG Class Locomotive. These Locomotives were built by Toshiba Heavy Industries in Japan, from 1981-1983, and entered service from 1981-1983. They are mostly used in large yards and ports for shunting. There are currently 24 in service. If added they would add shunting services at the Wellington Yard and port.[IMG]
    Services
    • Wellington to Upper Hutt. These services normally stop at all stations between Wellington and Upper Hutt, with a normal frequency of 20 of minutes, and with higher frequencies during peak periods and lower frequencies at night. 7 services in the morning and 11 in the evening do not call at Ngauranga and end at Taita. 7 services in the morning and 10 in the evening do not stop at any station apart from Waterloo between Wellington and Taitā but stop at every station between Taitā and Upper Hutt. These services are run by FP/FT EMU's
    • Melling Branch These services normally stop at Ngauranga, Petone, Western Hutt and Melling and operate every hour off peak and more frequently at peak periods. Some services at peak periods do not stop at Ngauranga. These services are operated by FP/FT EMU's
    • Wairarapa Connection. These services stop at Petone, Waterloo, Upper Hutt and every station after that to Masterton. There are 5 services a day each way. This service is operated by DFB loco's with SW/SE coaches.
    • Freight services. There is one night and one daytime return log service between Wellington and Waingawa. Freight service are operated by DFB's and DL's.
    • In total there will be around 117 services not including depot services.
    AI services
    • The Kāpati line. These services would start at Wellington Station shortly after they will turn off and head up the North Island main trunk. These will be run with FP/FT EMU's
    • The Johnsonville line . These services start at Wellington Station before turning off and heading up the Johnsonville line.
    • Freight services. These would start at Wellignton yard before turning off and heading up the North Island main trunk. These services would be operated with DFB's with log wagons.

None of these are mine all credit goes to their owners.

That's the end, I really hope this eventually comes to the game as I think it's a lovely route, though knowing DTG there's a next to 0 chance it will come (unless a 3rd party from NZ makes it), thanks for reading.

I'd love to see this, wairipa line would be the best out of all the wellingtons lines as Kapti line is nice but id not say worth it as it would only be passenger as freight goes to far out for building and doubt we will get a 125km to palmy as that's just to far for a small group and its to small of a genre for dovertails
