Overview The Stuttgart - Tübingen railway is a roughly 70 km long line built in 1861. It is equipped with PZB and ZUB 262 train security systems. Starting in Stuttgart Hbf the line runs around Stuttgart Yard via Bad Cannstatt and Untertürkheim along the mainline towards Ulm. In Plochingen it splits from the mainline and runs up the Neckar valley via Wendlingen, Nürtingen, Metzingen and Reutlingen until it reaches Tübingen. Rolling stock and time table As in 2019 railroad operators were newly assigned, I'd like to see both a pre-2019 and a post-2019 time tables (with different rolling stock) pre-2019 BR 146 + Dostos (RE and RB services from Stuttgart to Ulm operating until Plochingen as well as RE and RB trains to Tübingen although I'm not too sure if those trains really were 146 operated) BR 143 + Dostos (RE and RB services from Stuttgart to Ulm operating until Plochingen as well as RE and RB trains to Tübingen) BR 612 (tilting train) (IRE services with all from one to four trains from Stuttgart to Tübingen) BR 611 (tilting train, would be interesting but very niche) (IRE services from Stuttgart to Tübingen) Stadler Regio-Shuttle RS1 (RB services consisting of anything between one and four cars from Metzingen to Tübingen and also on branches, depending on whether DTG adds them: Tübingen - Herrenberg, Metzingen - Bad Urach, Nürtingen - Neuffen) BR 185 freight trains (freight services between Untertürkheim Yard and Plochingen Yard as well as irregular services of smaller trains to Tübingen Sidings) BR 363 (freight shunting services in Plochingen as well as shunting in the massive Stuttgart Yard) BR 430 (S-Bahn services with 1, 2 or 3 trains from Bad Cannstatt to Wendlingen and depending on whether DTG adds branches: Wendlingen - Kirchheim (T), Bad Cannstatt - Stuttgart Schwabstraße via Stuttgart Hbf (tief) or maybe even all the way down to Herrenberg if DTG makes the Tübingen - Herrenberg branch, would close the ring but make the route damn long) BR 423 (same as BR 430) BR 420 (same as BR 430) BR 425 (RE and RB services from Stuttgart towards Tübingen as well as Ulm services until Plochingen as well as bringing into service RB trains from the Plochingen S-Bahn Yard in Untertürkheim for RB services to Kornwestheim) ICE 3 (BR 403/BR 406) (ICE services towards Ulm calling at Plochingen) BR 101 (IC services towards Ulm calling at Plochingen as well as a few IC services all the way to Tübingen) post-2019 BR 442 Talent 2 (IRE, RE and RB trains to Tübingen, three, four and five part trains, often a combination of those coupled together) BR 612 (tilting train) (IRE services with all from one to four trains from Stuttgart to Tübingen) BR 143 + Dostos (ideally with DABgbuzf 760 cab cars) (RE and RB trains to Tübingen as Ersatzzüge when Talent 2s are not available) BR 146 + Dostos (RE services bound for Lindau down to Plochingen) BR 111 + n-Wagen + Wittenberger Steuerwagen (cab car) (RE and RB trains to Tübingen as Ersatzzüge when Talent 2s are not available) Stadler Regio-Shuttle RS1 (RB services consisting of anything between one and four cars from Metzingen to Tübingen and also on branches, depending on whether DTG adds them: Tübingen - Herrenberg, Metzingen - Bad Urach, Nürtingen - Neuffen) BR 185 freight trains (freight services between Untertürkheim Yard and Plochingen Yard as well as irregular services of smaller trains to Tübingen Sidings) BR 363 (freight shunting services in Plochingen as well as shunting in the massive Stuttgart Yard) BR 430 (S-Bahn services with 1, 2 or 3 trains from Bad Cannstatt to Wendlingen and depending on whether DTG adds branches: Wendlingen - Kirchheim (T), Bad Cannstatt - Stuttgart Schwabstraße via Stuttgart Hbf (tief) or maybe even all the way down to Herrenberg if DTG makes the Tübingen - Herrenberg branch, would close the ring but make the route damn long) BR 423 (same as BR 430) BR 420 (same as BR 430) BR 425 (bringing into service RB trains from the Plochingen S-Bahn Yard in Untertürkheim for RB services to Kornwestheim) ICE 3 (BR 403/BR 406) (ICE services towards Ulm calling at Plochingen) BR 101 (IC services towards Ulm calling at Plochingen as well as a few IC services all the way to Tübingen) Reasons I think this route should be made basically all German trains DTG made so far can be layered onto this route it's not another "red trains go fast" route since in the post-2019 time table most IRE/RE/RB trains run in the yellow "Bwegt" livery and the Stuttgart S-Bahn recently got a new non-red livery if DTG makes the S-Bahn branch at least until Schwabstraße, it would be a challenge to keep to the time table in the S-Bahn tunnel with trains running every 150 seconds with no LZB or ETCS If DTG makes the S-Bahn branch at least until Schwabstraße, there's a pretty unique turn lap with two tracks so trains can turn around at Schwabstraße without blocking through running traffic and broken trains can be temporarily parked on the second track Reasons I think this route should not be made it's not a very special line - no high speed section, few high speed trains, even tilting trains wouldn't be exclusive to this route - in this regard it would be "just another German route" Feel free to post your thoughts on this down below.
Excellent idea and for the Intercity services these are run by DB BR182 IC87 Stuttgart Tüblingen Singen Zürich. To fix this issue they need to have a cab card on the one end and compatible with DB BR182. Realistically this requires an ÖBB route to be made like Schnellfahrstrecke Wien Linz Westbahn for ÖBB1116 IC87 Stuttgart Tüblingen Singen Zürich. Layers DBB V60 Nahverkehr Dresden or Tharandter Rampe Nahverkehr Dresden also gives 146.2 Doppelstockwagen with working brake selectors for regional services Stuttgart Tüblingen Lindau. Freight Nahverkehr Dresden MRCE 185.5 with working Brake selector. Since this is part of the main line Stuttgart to Luzern via Singen Zürich RE421 SBB CFF FFS can be the DLC mixed traffic locomotive and layer to Luzern Sursee. DB BR612 can be made for the route or layered from Tharandter Rampe Dresden Chemnitz. Does The Line use ICE-T or not if so. Nahverkehr Dresden Rush Hour Train pack if made gives ICE-T here.
The IC trains don‘t drive on this way to Singen, they use another route. And no ICE trains are driving there.
Exactly, the line to Zürich goes via Herrenberg (that route also had ICE T trains at some point IIRC). The IC trains to Tübingen run towards Berlin or Köln. Tbh I'm not 100% sure whether they're BR101 or BR146/147 operated since I've never seen them in person but I heavily assume it's the 101. Depending on how much of the S1 DTG would decide to make it would be possible to drive IC87 trains between Böblingen and Herrenberg but that's really minor plus the game lacks the IC2 trains running on the line. Don't know where the ICE Ts stopped when they ran so I can't comment on that but I honestly doubt they stopped in either Herrenberg or Böblingen.
No, the Intercity 2 IC 2 (with DB BR 147.5) trains are driving the IC services there. Or the Br 1116 ÖBB with SBB Intercity waggons in SBB livery
Really good point but if you look at it on YouTube you would see IC87 has an ÖBB 1116 running the Train from Stuttgart Hbf to Singen where its dropped off for RE420 a Luzern Sursee locomotive for Zürich Hauptbahnhof from Singen
Ah I think I know what you mean there are trains running every two hours all the way to Zürich but they have a different train number (IC129 IIRC). They don't stop at Herrenberg though so even if that part were to be added it wouldn't change anything except for AI maybe. But if I'm not mistaken the ÖBB 1116 is basically an Austrian BR182 and the coaches look pretty similar to IC1 stock so if DTG were adding a route these trains run on it shouldn't be too much of an issue adapting existing models I think.
That's what I meant and for OBB 1116 it can also run SKA EN424/425 HRR IC118/119 HMA Blauer Enzian 112/113 RJX 63/66 Augsburg to Budapest Keleti via Munchen Hbf also EN420/421 06:30 Augsburg Hbf to Munchen Hbf 07:30 Amsterdam-Innsbruck. Main Spessart Bahn 02:18 Asschaffenburg to Lohr 02:38 since it must be at Wurzburg Hbf at 02:58 the combined EN424/425 EN420/421 Brussels Midi Aachen Hbf/Amsterdam Duisburg Dusseldorf Koln Wien Hbf section. DTG can make it playable by running Herrenberg-Stuttgart Hbf both way if applicable.
I think those trains go via Plochingen and Ulm since if I understand correctly they go via Augsburg and München as well. So they'd be playable either way I guess although stopping in Plochingen probably isn't realistic for those trains.
There's broadly four ICE/IC services on the Munich - Stuttgart route, each of which runs around every 2hr. * ICE Dortmund - Rhein Main NBS - Stuttgart - Munich (ICE 3/4) * ICE Berlin - Erfurt - Fulda - Frankfurt - Stuttgart - Munich (ICE 1/4) * IC/ICE Karlsruhe - Bruchsal - Stuttgart - Munich (IC1/ICE1) * IC/EC Frankfurt - Darmstadt - Stuttgart - Munich - Salzburg (IC1/OEBB) It's the third of these that stops at Plochingen. There is also an IC to Tubingen from Stuttgart, which has come up the Rhine.
I think it'd be an excellent route, perhaps with part of the mainline too (Goeppingen, Geislingen and Ulm are the next few major stations). Very scenic, busy and varied.
Talking about today, All of the IC Services (Stuttgart - Singen (-Zürich)) have been replaced by either IC2 Kiss or IC2 Teppich (147+Dosto/Twindexx). I mean, it could be an addition, but an addition i dont expect to see very soon.
